Juventus Demand £39m Plus Players From Manchester United For Arturo Vidal, Says Report

The speculation surrounding Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal refuses to die. With just over a week remaining before the summer transfer window closes, the expectation is the Chile international’s name will continue to circulate around the rumor mill.

The Italian champions have insisted no discussions have been held with any club regarding a possible transfer of Vidal. Club officials remain confident that the reported United target will remain in Turin, despite stories which have linked the player with a move to Old Trafford

Yesterday, Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta told Gazzetta dello Sport:

“All the requirements are there for Vidal not to leave before the end of the transfer market.

“The contract extension he signed has made more solid the marriage between Juve and Vidal. Vidal has always said he wanted to stay here and we are more than happy to keep him.”

But this morning, CNN and beIN SPORTS correspondent Tancredi Palmeri reported that negotiations between Juventus and Manchester United have taken place. The European giants have exchanged proposals and, as of right now, the Serie A club is considering United’s latest bid.

Palmeri tweeted that Juventus had requested £39 million plus two players from Manchester United for Vidal, but the Premier League side rejected that demand. The journalist insisted that the players requested by Juventus were not Chicharito (as some reports have stated) or Danny Welbeck, who has reportedly been told by manager Louis van Gaal that he can leave the English club.

United have sent a return offer to the Italian giants of less than £32m plus one player (again, not Chicharito or Welbeck) for Vidal.

Juventus are believed to be considering the offer and will give an answer on Monday or Tuesday.

It is believed that Manchester United have renewed their interest in Vidal following the news that the Premier League club have suffered more injuries to their already thin midfield options.

During his Friday press conference, Louis van Gaal informed the media that his side would be without the services of Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera heading into Sunday’s league encounter with Sunderland; that means none of the club’s summer signings will play this weekend with Luke Shaw injured and Marcos Rojo unable to participate because he has yet to finalize his work permit.

Currently, United’s only healthy midfielders are Darren Fletcher and Tom Cleverley.
