Alvarez frustrated by canceled meeting with Atletico executives

Following his medical exams in Madrid, Romero reported that Alvarez met with his agency team, Fernando Hidalgo and Sergio Diaz. The session lasted over two hours as they mapped out their strategy for the coming days, with one clear goal in mind.

Romero, Argentina insider Gaston Edul, and Spanish outlets including Diario Sport and Mundo Deportivo all align on the same conclusion: Julian Alvarez wants an immediate move to FC Barcelona during the 2026 summer transfer window. The next step will be forcing a direct meeting with Atlético Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin so the striker can directly express his position.

To this point, Alvarez has not indicated any intent to stage a holdout or breach his contractual duties.
