After the match, Postecoglou explained why Ronaldo was introduced gradually rather than being thrown straight into the starting lineup. The Australian manager stressed that his captain needed time to rebuild his fitness after a particularly demanding period.
“Cristiano Ronaldo always wants to play, but it is important that he takes his time to return, as he was busy during the preparation period,” Postecoglou said, via Al-Riyadiah.
