Cristiano Ronaldo has learned the latest development surrounding Joao Felix’s future at Al-Nassr, with the Portuguese forward’s impressive rise in Saudi Arabia putting his long-term plans firmly in the spotlight. After helping the club secure the Saudi Pro League title and continuing his excellent form into the new campaign, Felix has become an increasingly important figure in Ronaldo’s attacking setup.

The 26-year-old arrived in Riyadh after a difficult spell in European soccer, but his career has taken a dramatic turn since linking up with Ronaldo. Now, a major decision involving his future could give Al-Nassr another reason for optimism as it looks to build on its championship-winning campaign.

Felix’s first season in Riyadh proved to be a major success. He produced 20 goals and 14 assists in the Saudi Pro League, playing a key role as Al-Nassr claimed the league championship while also earning recognition as the competition’s Player of the Season.

His influence has continued into the new 2026-27 campaign. Felix scored in the opening league victory over Al-Fateh before producing two goals and an assist against Al-Diriyah in the King’s Cup.

The Portuguese forward has also developed a productive partnership with Ronaldo. Felix has already delivered more than 40 goal contributions for the Knight of Najd, underlining the impact he has made since arriving in Saudi Arabia.

What does Joao Felix’s future hold?

According to 365Scores Arabic, Al-Nassr and Felix have agreed to extend his contract by two additional seasons beyond his current agreement, which is scheduled to expire in June 2027. The report also makes clear that there are no financial problems or disagreements between the player and the club, with the official announcement expected at a mutually agreed time.

The development represents a significant boost for Al-Nassr, particularly given Felix’s importance since his arrival in July 2025. The Portuguese forward initially signed a two-year contract after leaving Chelsea in a deal reported to be worth around $35 million plus potential add-ons.

Ronaldo’s role in the renewal push

Felix’s importance to the project had already become clear during the summer, when reports suggested Ronaldo personally encouraged Al-Nassr to open discussions over a new contract for his compatriot. The relationship between the two Portuguese stars has become one of the defining features of the club’s attack.

There had previously been speculation that Felix’s future could become complicated, particularly amid reports concerning Al-Nassr’s finances. However, those concerns appear to have been overstated, with the latest information indicating that the extension was connected to the terms of his original contract rather than any dispute between the two sides.

For Ronaldo, keeping his younger compatriot represents another important piece of stability around him. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains the centerpiece of the team’s attack, but having a creative forward capable of producing goals and assists consistently gives the club another major weapon.

Felix, meanwhile, has finally found the kind of environment that allows him to play with confidence and freedom. After difficult spells involving Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Milan, his Saudi Arabian adventure has given him regular opportunities and the chance to rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
