This weekend sees some interesting ties in the Championship, although with bad weather forecast it seems unlikely that we will see a full program this weekend.
Unfortunately I cannot predict the weather, quality of the pitches or the ‘safety reasons’ that could lead to the postponement of these games, therefore as an optimist I am going to assume that all games this weekend will be on this weekend as scheduled.
A full list of fixtures, including Friday’s televised game can be found here, but I have decided to have a quick look at three of Saturday’s matches.
Leeds United v QPR
With Leeds riding high and placed fourth in the table the Yorkshire club will be full of confidence, particularly given the nature of last week’s comeback victory against Burnley.
This means that top of the table Queens Park Rangers will hold little fear for Simon Grayson’s men who face a QPR side eager to bounce back from defeat last weekend, with a positive result as they look to increase their lead at the top of the table.
Victory for QPR will keep them in the promotion driving seat however a victory for Leeds will open the promotion race right up.
Coventry v Norwich
With both sides in the play off places this should be a tough encounter for both sides, neither of which will want to lose momentum in the promotion shake up.
Coventry are now unbeaten in five games and will be hoping that Marlon King’s failed appeal will be taken off the front and back pages with a five star performance. As for Norwich, consistency is the only factor missing from their promotion challenge, particularly away from home.
Ipswich v Leicester
Seven games without a win and with a manager hanging to his job by a thread Ipswich are in turmoil, this must surely be Roy Keane’s last chance to prove he can turn things around at Portman Road.
As for Leicester they will be looking to build on last weekend’s humiliation of Doncaster and start looking skywards in the table, it is also possible Chris Kirkland may feature.
