Despite the silverware, the club made the surprising decision to part ways with the New Zealand-born manager, sparking immediate speculation about who might take over.
While Postecoglou delivered long-awaited success in Europe, Tottenham’s domestic campaign fell well short of expectations. The team finished 17th in the Premier League with just 38 points — a position perilously close to relegation. “Following a review of performances and after significant reflection,” read the club’s official statement on X, the decision was made to move on.
In a farewell message, Postecoglou reflected on his time in North London with pride. “The opportunity to lead one of England’s historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime… That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream,” the statement read in part.
Thomas Frank, the main candidate
Despite their league struggles, Tottenham remains an attractive destination, especially with a spot secured in next season’s UEFA Champions League. One of the leading candidates to replace Postecoglou is Brentford manager Thomas Frank, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano.
Frank has already held discussions with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and is considered the frontrunner. The Danish manager has earned praise for stabilizing Brentford since 2018, guiding the club through 317 matches and bringing them up to the Premier League, where they’ve maintained a competitive edge.

Another Premier League option being considered is Fulham manager Marco Silva. However, unlike Frank, Silva has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to Fulham, who finished 11th this season and have continued to grow under his leadership after returning to the top flight.
