Two Britons still in coma after Euro 2016 attacks

Marseille (AFP) – Two England supporters gravely injured in football violence at the European Championship finals in Marseille remain in a coma, officials said Tuesday.

Andrew Bache, 51, and Stewart Gray, 47, are in a “stable condition” but still fighting for their lives, the officials said.

They were two of 35 mainly British victims of the violence on June 11, much of which has been blamed on Russian supporters.

Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said investigators were still hunting the attackers in the two cases “which are considered attempted murder.”

Robin has said much of the violence was provoked by Russian fans. Three Russians have been jailed for up to two years and 20 others were expelled, though Russian fan leader Alexander Shprygin sneaked back into the country to see Russia’s match on Monday.
