Ten Hag says Man United changing owners would be good

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has claimed that the club changing owners would be a good thing. The Dutch boss made the comments to reporters in Spain where the team is currently training. United played two friendly matches against LaLiga opponents during their stay. The Red Devils lost both fixtures.

“My information is that it will only be good things because there will be more investment possible, which is good,” ten Hag explained to the reporters.

It was previously announced last month that current owners, the Glazer family, will be looking to sell the team. The Americans first initially began investing money into United in 2005.

Ten Hag not discussing situation with United owners

The manager also revealed that he has not yet spoken to the current owners about the situation. Instead, ten Hag is in contact with United CEO Richard Arnold.

“We spoke about the culture we want, we spoke about objectives, goals and the culture and he [Arnold] confirmed it won’t change, it will be even better because more money will become available for this project,” said the coach.

Manchester United had a net spend of about $240 million during the last summer transfer market. Ten Hag’s former players at Ajax, Antony and Lisandro Martinez, were brought in at United for around $160 million combined. The club also spent big on Real Madrid’s Casemiro as well.

Ten Hag wants more money to rival other clubs

Ten Hag is hoping for even more investment into the club to help keep up with other Premier League teams. “Newcastle are coming, even West Ham, maybe not now in the table but they have huge investment … You can quickly count seven or eight clubs that can compete in this league,” the coach claimed.

“It’s also about strategy not just money. But it’s clear that when you don’t have the right players and quality players you will not be successful and achieve the targets you set.”

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League table. Following the World Cup’s conclusion, they will restart their campaign with a Carabao Cup game against Burnley on December 21st.
