Harry Kane

Real Madrid keeping tabs on Harry Kane, says report

Real Madrid will supposedly monitor Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail claims that the Spanish giants would love to add the England international to their attack. However, a potential move would be difficult to finalize.

Champions League qualification could decide Kane’s future

There’s no secret that Kane will be targeted by some massive clubs this summer. The Englishman is widely regarded as one of the top strikers in the world at the moment.

Tottenham’s precarious position in the Premier League standings could also affect a potential move.

The north London outfit currently sit in a Champions League place, but Newcastle are just one point behind. And the Magpies also have a game in hand.

Should Spurs not qualify for the Champions League, the chances of Kane departing the club would seemingly increase.

Spanish giants could be tough to turn down

Real Madrid would also be an enticing move for Kane as well. Los Blancos are one of the top teams on the planet and most players would love a chance to play at the Bernabeu.

Karim Benzema is still the main focal point of the club, but the Frenchman is now 35, and his current contract expires in June. There is speculation that Benzema will return on a one-year deal, though.

If Spurs were to sell Kane, moving him out of the Premier League would be preferred.

Manchester United have also shown interest in the striker, but Spurs would not want to sell to a rival. Because of this, Real would seemingly have the upper hand.

A possible decision could come down to current Real boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian is a popular figure in Madrid. After all, he has collected two Champions League trophies and a LaLiga title.

However, drifting too far behind rivals Barcelona in the table could see team brass wanting to make a change. Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly a backup plan for Real should Ancelotti leave.

Kane and Pochettino previously worked together for over five seasons at Spurs.
