Newcastle United Defender Fabricio Coloccini Could Miss Next 6 Weeks With Knee Injury

Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini could miss the next six weeks after picking up a knee injury in the Toon’s 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns today.

The Argentine defender was substituted in the 65th minute after picking up the injury, and hobbled off the pitch. Coloccini suffered medial knee ligament damage, according to the Newcastle Journal newspaper.

During the match, fellow Newcastle defender Mathieu Debuchy received a red card, which will rule the Frenchman out for three games. The absence of Debuchy and Coloccini in defense will give opportunities to Steven Taylor or Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to compete for positions in the back four for Alan Pardew’s side.
