Manchester City vs. Arsenal predicted lineups and team news

After a lethargic performance in the Champions League last Wednesday, Manchester City turn their attention to securing a top four spot in the Premier League when they host Arsenal on Sunday.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men saw their European dreams killed by Real Madrid 1-0 on aggregate and they must now concentrate on keeping their spot in Europe’s elite competition for next season with Manchester United and West Ham also in the race.

On the other hand, it has been another season of mediocrity at Arsenal but they are only a win away from securing Champions League qualification for the 19^th consecutive time, a remarkable achievement given that last year’s Champions, Chelsea, are not going to be involved in next year’s competition.

The Gunners come into this game off the back of a narrow 1-0 win at home to Norwich which put them three points ahead of their hosts who lost to Southampton last weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s men have a very good recent record against the Citizens having gone four games unbeaten against Pellegrini’s side (W2 D2).

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will be sidelined for this fixture after suffering a groin injury at Real Madrid on Wednesday. Other players out for City include: David Silva (hamstring), Pablo Zabaleta (calf), and Aleksandar Kolarov (knock).

For the visitors, Per Metersacker and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain are ruled out of this match but Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, and Santi Carzola are available for selection.
