The group stage of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup has concluded, setting the stage for an exciting Round of 16. Held in the United States, the 2025 edition of the tournament has brought together 32 teams from all six confederations in a format similar to the FIFA World Cup.
With the top two teams from each group now advancing, the knockout phase begins with the Round of 16 — a single-elimination stage where every match is do-or-die on the road to global club glory.
When will the Round of 16 be played?
The Round of 16 is scheduled to be played from June 28 to July 1. After a brief one-day break, the top two teams from each of the eight groups will face off in single-elimination matches. Unlike the group phase, there will be no room for error—extra time and penalties will be used if necessary.
What are the matchups?
The Round of 16 will feature eight matches between group winners and runners-up, with the matchups structured based on a pre-determined bracket.
