Glenn Hoddle to be Interviewed For Swansea City Job In Next 48-72 Hours: Nightly Soccer Report

BBC broadcaster James Pearce reports tonight that Glenn Hoddle will be interviewed for the Swansea City job before this weekend.

The former England manager is currently in Doha. Hoddle hasn’t managed since 2009 when he resigned from Wolverhampton Wanderers after the club supporters turned against him. But during rosier spells in club management, player/manager Hoddle helped Swindon to promotion to the Premier League, he was manager at Chelsea from 1993-96, and he had a 60% win percentage when he was England manager, leading the nation to the second round of the 1998 World Cup before being defeated controversially at the hands of Argentina.

Since 2008, Hoddle has been running a soccer academy in Spain, as well as making appearances as a pundit for different broadcasters.

As a Swansea City supporter, Hoddle fits the profile for Swansea very well in terms of playing soccer in a continental style. The only question is whether he has the energy and patience to withstand the pressures of a job as a Premier League manager, which is much more intense when he managed at Chelsea in the mid-90s.
