David Beckham Picks Miami for MLS Franchise: Nightly Soccer Report

Nearly six months after David Beckham toured Miami and said that the prospect of owning a MLS team in the city was exciting, the Associated Press has confirmed what World Soccer Talk first reported yesterday that a source close to the star reveals that Beckham has selected Miami as his MLS franchise.

World Soccer Talk senior writer Kartik Krishnaiyer reported on Monday that:

“My sources indicate [Beckham’s Miami MLS team] will be announced either in December at MLS Cup or in January at the Superdraft/NSCAA Convention. Either way, Orlando City will have been announced as moving from USL PRO to MLS by that time creating an instant Florida derby in the American top flight. I am hearing the Miami team could start play anytime from 2015 to 2017. “
