Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo available this weekend, but Gareth Bale doubtful

Real Madrid have been informed that the yellow card issued to Cristiano Ronaldo during Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Rayo Vallecano has been rescinded. This means the forward will be available for Saturday’s match against Eibar.

Had the appeal been rejected, the player would have been banned from this weekend’s match due to yellow card accumulation.

Ronaldo was booked for simulation by referee Mario Melero Lopez even though replays clearly showed the forward had been brought down in the box by Rayo defender Antonio Amaya.

The Portugal international and his teammates vehemently protested the decision, and just minutes later – after a foul by Gareth Bale – Toni Kroos was booked for dissent.

While Ronaldo will be available for Saturday’s match against Eibar, Madrid will still be without James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos after the midfielders picked up yellow cards against Rayo Vallecano. Both players were handed a one-match ban for yellow card accumulation.

Also, Gareth Bale is doubtful for Saturday’s match after he appeared to pick up a muscle injury against Rayo.

It has been learned that Bale underwent a series of test to determine the severity of the injury. What the medical exams revealed is the forward is suffering from muscle fatigue, meaning he will likely be rested this weekend.

Following Saturday’s match against Eibar, Madrid will prepare for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid.

With that in mind, manager Carlo Ancelotti will likely elect to rest Bale ahead of the important European fixture.

Programming note: Real Madrid vs. Eibar will be shown LIVE on Saturday starting at 10:00am EST on beIN SPORTS and fuboTV.
