Bournemouth's Wilson out for season

London (AFP) – Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson will miss the rest of the Premier League season after suffering a serious knee injury in training.

Wilson ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Wednesday and isn’t expected back in action for at least six months.

The 24-year-old, who has scored six goals in 21 appearances this term, suffered a similar injury last season.

“We are all devastated for Callum. What’s important now is that he receives the support and love of his family and friends, team-mates and everyone associated with Bournemouth,” Cherries boss Eddie Howe said on Thursday.

“Callum showed incredible character and determination to come back from a similar setback last season and we know he has the same strength and will to do the same again.”

Bournemouth are 14th in the Premier League after losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
