USA vs. Paraguay draws 4.4 million in Copa America

An viewing average of 4.4 million people watched the USA’s 1-0 victory against Paraguay on US television Saturday night, in a game that sent the US Men’s National Team into the quarter-finals.

The USA-Paraguay game, which was televised live across Univision, Univision Deportes and FOX Sports 1, was shown from 7-9pm ET. The game averaged 2.4 million viewers across Univision and 2.0 million on FOX Sports 1.

While Univision had approximately 400,000 more viewers watching the United States on their Spanish-language network, the Univision network is available over-the-air while FOX Sports 1 is only available via cable or satellite subscriptions.

For FOX, the USA-Paraguay match is the most-watched men’s soccer game ever on the network. With viewership for US games growing over each of the team’s three matches, Copa America has now produced three of the top four men’s soccer ratings in FS1 history.

The US opened the tournament on June 3 with a 2-0 loss to world No. 3 ranked Colombia (1.536 million viewers), before rebounding to beat Costa Rica 4-0 on June 7 (1.6 million viewers, an FS1 record at the time).

Coming into the tournament, the previous FS1 record for men’s soccer was the 2015 CONCACAF CUP (1.561 million viewers).
