New York City FC held to draw by 10-man New England [VIDEO]

New York City FC endured a frustrating day at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, held to a 1-1 Major League Soccer draw by 10-man New England.

City have yet to win in three home games this season, notching two draws and one defeat in a record that head coach Patrick Vieira flatly said wouldn’t do.

“Three games at home and two points is not good enough for a football club like New York City,” said the former Arsenal, Juventus and Inter Milan star, who took the helm this season tasked with improving the fortunes of the big-spending club after its disappointing debut campaign.

“The only thing you can control is your performance, and I think our performance today wasn’t good at all,” Vieira said.

Things looked promising when City’s Thomas McNamara opened the scoring in the 10th minute, heading home a rebound of a David Villa shot that bounced off the crossbar.

Chris Tierney pulled one back for the Revolution in the 38th off a free kick deflected by City forward Steven Mendoza.

And the stalemate stood even after New England’s Gershon Koffie was shown a straight red card in the 51st minute for a foul on McNamara.

But even with the man advantage, City couldn’t find another goal.

McNamara had a chance in injury time, firing a shot from outside the area that went wide just before the final whistle sounded.
