Sports manufacturer Adidas has revealed that they have run out of Lionel Messi Argentina jerseys. No matter size or gender, the German sportswear brand is out of stock of the shirts.

The remarkable revelation comes during Messi’s historic World Cup run in Qatar. Now 35, the superstar has admitted that this is his last chance to collect the elusive gold trophy. And he hasn’t disappointed. Messi has been enthralling throughout the competition and has his team in the Final. Argentina will play defending world champions France on Sunday.

Special edition Messi jersey potential

Popular sports media personality Manu Heredia revealed Adidas’s issue on Twitter. Also, he claimed the debut of a special jersey if Argentina wins at the weekend. “Spectacular: Adidas confirmed that the stocks of Messi’s Argentine shirt have been exhausted throughout the planet,” proclaimed Heredia. “The positive news is that there will be a special edition in the event of an Albiceleste victory in the final.”

Moreover, resell site StockX currently has Messi World Cup jerseys going for over $500. And they are supposedly selling out.

Counterfeit Adidas jerseys of Lionel Messi with Argentina

The shortage of the Messi jerseys has also provoked the production and sale of fakes. Argentina is obviously one of the most popular national teams that Adidas currently works with. Harassed by complaints of the problem, the Argentine Football Federation issued a statement.

“We can’t do anything about it, although it’s in our interest to sell more,” stated the AFA. “It is a matter of Adidas and there are problems in the country that affect them, such as the obstacles to imports and the lack of manpower, as well as the high level of public anger.”

The German sportswear company is reportedly working on producing more Messi jerseys at the moment. Yet, there is no timetable for the release of the additional shirts.
