ESPN+ acquires rights to US Open Cup through 2022

ESPN+ has acquired the streaming rights to the US Open Cup through 2022 in another deal that positions ESPN+ as the leading soccer streaming service in the United States. The U.S. Open Cup is the longest-running domestic cup competition in the United States. All U.S. Open Cup matches from the First Round through the Final will air exclusively on ESPN+, the direct-to-consumer sports streaming service, beginning this year and running through the 109th edition of the tournament in 2022. So Tuesday night in their US Open Cup match against Portland, the Seattle Sounders were probably hard-done by a series of bad calls by a relatively inexperienced official. Cal FC Looks To Pull Off Another Magical Run in the US Open Cup

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer.  It is the oldest ongoing soccer competition in the United States. This year marks the 101st edition of the tournament and features a record 80 teams – 42 amateur teams and 38 professional clubs.
