Barcelona have taken the bragging rights in the first El Clasico of the season with a 2-1 victory against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou Stadium in Catalonia.

However, Real Madrid will feel robbed by the referee’s decision not to award the team a penalty when Cristiano Ronaldo was fouled in the box by Javier Mascherano.

And this exquisite chip from Alexis Sanchez made it 2-0 to Barcelona:

Late in the second half, Jese Rodriguez pulled one back for Real Madrid after an inch-perfect pass from Cristiano Ronaldo:

But overall, Barcelona was the better team on the day. Gareth Bale had a poor performance, while Karim Benzema’s rocket of a shot hit the crossbar.
