<p>The United States Women’s National Team announced its 24-player roster ahead of two upcoming friendlies in early October. Head coach Vlatko Andonovski will lead his team against England on October 7th at Wembley Stadium in London. They will next travel to Osasuna’s home stadium to play Spain in Pamplona on October 11th. The England match will be televised on FOX, while the final friendly is set to air on ESPN2.</p>
<p>Andonovski underlined the importance of these upcoming games for the USWNT. “These are big tests for our team in front of crowds cheering against us and after long travel, but our players absolutely love games like these,” <a href="https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2022/09/andonovski-names-roster-for-away-friendly-matches-against-england-and-spain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> Andonovski.</p>
<p>“The group we are bringing to Europe includes players who have a lot of experience against top European teams and some that don’t, so these games are even more critical for our growth as our team. Our whole squad needs to get a clear picture of what these games are like as we continue to prepare for the World Cup.”</p>
<p>The USWNT, like their next two opponents, <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/04/19/reigning-champ-usa-learns-path-to-2023-womens-world-cup/">already qualified</a> for the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/09/29/2023-womens-world-cup-tickets-go-on-sale-from-october-6th/">2023 World Cup</a>. The Americans <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/concacaf-w-championship-tv-schedule/">sealed their placed</a> in the tournament by <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/07/27/concacaf-needs-to-improve-on-the-competitiveness-for-women/">winning the 2022 CONCACAF Championship</a> this summer.</p>

<p>Spain’s LaLiga today teamed up with Dubai-based media company Galaxy Racer to extend its reach. The intended target is the Middle East and northern Africa (MENA) region as well as India. The 15-year agreement worth $2.9 billion aims to help LaLiga compete globally with the Premier League.</p>
<p>LaLiga saw considerable <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/03/18/boris-gartner-interview-part-1-laligas-growth-in-north-america/">development in North America</a> over the last several years. In a partnership with multinational media company Relevent, LaLiga sought promotion for both the league and sport in North America. That successful venture turned LaLiga into one of the most popular leagues in the United States. Now, it trails just the Premier League, Liga MX and MLS.</p>
<p>Recently, LaLiga sold its TV rights in North America for a record deal. In 2021, <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/podcasts/laliga-returns-home-to-espn-world-soccer-talk-podcast/">ESPN acquired the U.S. rights to LaLiga</a> on an eight-year deal for <a href="https://awfulannouncing.com/soccer/espn-signs-eight-year-deal-with-laliga-for-an-estimated-1-4-billion-taking-over-from-bein-sports.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$1.4 billion</a>.</p>
<p>With a resurgent Barcelona and the now-14-time Champions League winners in Real Madrid, LaLiga sees an opportunity for growth. In fact, a goal of LaLiga in its bid for Africa, India and the Middle East is to grow larger than the Premier League.</p>
<h5>Competing with the Premier League</h5>
<p>England’s Premier League is the undisputed champion of viewership around the globe. The EPL <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10409843/Premier-League-dominates-Bundesliga-Ligue-1-La-Liga-Serie-attracting-3-2-billion-TV-viewers.html">reportedly</a> had about 3.2 billion viewers worldwide throughout the 2019-20 season. And more television viewers means more money. Broadcasting contracts generated around $165 million for the Premier League for the 19/20 season. To put this into perspective, LaLiga brought in about $77 million during the same timeframe. The Spanish league are banking on Galaxy Racer to help close that massive gap by expanding their range to MENA.</p>
<h3>LaLiga looks to extend league’s reach into MENA and India</h3>
<p>“The LaLiga brand is powerful, but its potential remains untapped amongst Millennials and Gen Z in the MENA region,” <a href="https://www.laliga.com/en-GB/news/laliga-and-galaxy-racer-set-to-transform-sports-media-scene-in-mena-region-and-indian-subcontinent-through-historic-joint-venture" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> Galaxy Racer CEO Paul Roy.</p>
<p>“Our opportunity is to connect with a younger audience in a way that resonates with them.&nbsp; Galaxy Racer has a market reach that will help unlock that potential and elevate LaLiga to an aspirational brand for target audiences in the region.”</p>
<p>Galaxy Racer is reportedly the biggest esports, gaming and lifestyle company in the world.&nbsp; Not only are they certainly a massive organization, but they also have a huge presence in the MENA area. This was obviously an area of focus for LaLiga officials.</p>
<p>“With the market set to enter a new era of growth, this is the right moment to take our business in the region to the next level and attract the next generation of younger sport fans to our competition,” Oscar Mayo, LaLiga Executive Director said.</p>

<h5>LaLiga’s growth</h5>
<p>The joint venture extends LaLiga’s reach into major soccer countries like Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey India and Qatar. Also, the two companies began working on events, merchandise, and actual tournaments in the aforementioned area.</p>

<p>The 2022/23 LaLiga predictions may be more open than people presume. On one hand, it is hard to pick against Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico to win the LaLiga title. However, the jumble of teams beneath these three provides some drama. This stretches from the battle for European placement to the always-looming danger of relegation.</p>
<p>So, as you think about how LaLiga unfolds this season, consider a number of factors that impact teams. For one, transfers play a massive role. New arrivals to squads can be the missing piece for success on the biggest level. At the same time, they could throw off the balance of what brought success. That applies to both arrivals and departures on the team sheet.</p>
<p>Same applies for managers. Barcelona manager Xavi had significant time at the helm at Camp Nou. Now, he has his first full season with the Catalan club. Surely, he wants to improve on Barcelona’s second-place finish from a season ago. Of course, the one team they can improve against is a side that won LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League this past season. Therefore, Los Blancos enter as the sure-fire favorites domestically.</p>
<p>Relegation in Spain is not something that receives as much publicity in the United States. Unlike Germany or England, there is no regular attachment to many of the bottom-dwellers in LaLiga. That being said, a relegation battle is still a relegation battle. Almería, Real Valladolid and Girona look to stay for more than one season in Spain, but it will not be easy.</p>

<p>If you are curious how to watch Women’s Euro 2022 tournament on TV this summer, you found the answer.</p>
<p>Initially, UEFA scheduled the 13th edition of the UEFA Women’s Championship for 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the tournament back to the following summer in 2022. As a result, this is the longest gap between Women’s Euros in the tournament’s history.</p>
<h5>Records in Past Tournaments</h5>
<p>In the 12-year history of the competition, Germany is, by far, the most successful team. The German women have eight tournament wins, including a run of seven-consecutive wins from 1995 to 2013. However, the Netherlands stopped the German reign in 2017. This Netherlands side also finished runner-up in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.</p>
<p>Other champions include Norway in 1987 and 1993 and Sweden, which one the inaugural tournament in 1984.</p>
<p>In addition to the past champions, England, France and Spain are all contenders for the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros. These teams feature some of the best women’s players in the world.</p>
<p>For Spain, Alexia Putellas is the defending Ballon d’Or winner. She, along with fellow Spanish teammate Jenni, helped Barcelona to its first UEFA Women’s Champions League a season ago. Now, Barcelona won every game so far in all competitions.</p>
<p>Other key players to feature include Arsenal’s prolific goalscorer Vivianne Miedema for the Netherlands. Also, Manchester City’s Lucy Bronze looks to make an impact in her home country of England.</p>
<h5>England as the host</h5>
<p>England hosts the competition for the first time since 2005. There are <a href="https://www.thefa.com/competitions/uefa-womens-euro-2022/venues" target="_blank" rel="noopener">10 different stadiums</a> in use for the tournament spanning just under a month in July. The biggest of the stadiums are Old Trafford in Manchester, which hosts the opening game between England and Austria. Then, Wembley Stadium in London hosts the Final.</p>
<p>A recent report claimed that ticket sales in England for the Women’s Euros are through the roof. As of March 28, UEFA announced that they already sold over 300,000 total tickets for the upcoming matches. This number already sets the record for the most tickets sold to a Women’s Euro tournament. The previous record was in 2017 with just over 240,000 tickets sold. With three months still remaining before the first match, ticket sales are expected to increase even more heading into the tournament.</p>
<h5>Russia in the Euros</h5>
<p>One particularly interesting storyline coming out of the upcoming women’s tournament revolves around the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although previously qualified, UEFA banned Russia from the Women’s Euros. The same applies to many Russian sports teams. For instance, UEFA banned the men’s team from the playoff stage of FIFA World Cup qualifying.</p>
<p>UEFA is yet to make a decision on a replacement team for Russia in the competition. One potential candidate is Portugal. Russia beat Portugal by an aggregate score of 1-0 to qualify for the tournament. Scotland, however, could also be considered, as they are the highest-ranked European side not currently participating in the Women’s Euros.</p>
<h3>Watch the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 in the U.S.</h3>
<p>The tournament begins July 6, 2022, from Old Trafford. It ends with the final on July 31.</p>
<p>In the United States, ESPN holds the rights to the competition. As part of its coverage, an ESPN spokesperson told World Soccer Talk it will broadcast all 31 games. </p>
<p>For Spanish-language coverage, TUDN holds the rights to the broadcasts in the U.S.</p>
