How do you miss that Ronaldo also played his best years in La Liga? As for the evangelical views on leagues, it really seems that the EPL supporters lean on the “UCL is cup play and anything can happen” plus “Real Madrid gets ref calls” instead of simply recognizing that other teams and leagues have high, if not higher, quality. For a long time, Real Madrid couldn’t handle the physicality in Europe, but once they fixed that (Casemiro?) they went on the run from 9 to 14 UCL titles. Man City never winning in Europe is an epic failure and reflects poorly on the EPL that they have dominated for a while now.

re: Union v Bayern…glad to hear it wasn’t only me having issues with the stream. I ended up using the Spanish language stream, which was working.

Paqueta = Pah-keh-TAH…he will be missed at Lyon. Every once in a while went invisible and had no impact on a match but when he was on he created some moments, kept the team purring.

I am still wondering after seeing some players cost teams 70-90+ million and remembering Man. City got Haaland for around 50 million, exactly how they pulled that off.

If interested in the subject, read up on “release clause”. Whoever got Haaland in summer 2022 was going to pay Dortmund the summer 2022 release clause amount in Haaland’s contract and nothing more. Haaland had all the leverage to pick his summer 2022 transfer team
      .
Some summer 2022 transfers did not have a contractual release clause (or had one for a higher amount), so their existing team had leverage to block or grant depending on amount paid. As is very common with contracts, clubs with better leverage got better outcomes
