In our Ronnie Whelan interview, the legendary Liverpool midfielder — who played in two World Cup tournaments for the Republic of Ireland — shares memories of his playing career with the Reds.

Among the honors he won includes more than 15 medals including the 1984 European Cup. During the interview, Whelan discusses the famous Liverpool Boot Room, what he thought of Bob Paisley and Jack Charlton, what Major League Soccer team he almost managed, and his two most memorable experiences during his illustrious career.

The Irishman played a total of 53 times for the national side between 1981 and 1995. For Liverpool, he made 362 appearances before he left the club in 1994 and joined Southend United where he became their player-manager a year later in 1995.
