London Is Bad (EPL Talk Preview Podcast)

It’s not a good time to live in London if you care about football. You barely have a chance of seeing a beloved English team at Wembley for a European final; Wenger is (but isn’t) crying; Rafa doesn’t want to be there; and to top all that off the title doesn’t want to be in your city either.

It’s a big weekend for London teams though. Spurs and Arsenal conduct a derby as Andre looks to improve on his record against Arsene whilst simultaneously boosting his standings in the league. Is it possible that all ex-Chelsea managers will one day do better than their past mistress? More importantly, this game showcases the best of London. Youthful exuberance and stylist cuts. Gareth and co. will delist their opportunity to show Arsenal who owns London now.

United could pull well ahead as City play on Monday night. Do you think the title is over? And, what would you contribute to the post-pod/pre-pod intro. Let’s EPL Talk about it:

Agreed. Poor Chelsea. They have to play a lot of matches when they pull a double. You’re better than that Morgan.

Listening to Morgan’s excuses about Chelsea is pretty much hilarious. He is by far the biggest homer on these podcasts.

I don’t have a problem with him being a Chelsea fan. I have a problem with him telling me that he thought Ake did a good job “bossing the midfield” and that he was “fantastic” immediately followed by him telling me that he did not watch the match. That’s quite a trick.

        Hi De Selby,

I listened to most of the match on the radio and caught the final bit of the match on tv. So while you’re right I didn’t physically see most of the match, but judging by the radio commentary he had a great game.

          Fair play, Morgan.

I think maybe it would be better to preface your analysis by saying if you didn’t actually see a match. I just think it sounds better that way.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and there have been plenty of times that I’ve heard presenters and wondered whether they had seen all the matches they were commenting on. I just think it’s good information for everyone to have. There’s a difference between expressing your own opinion on something and expressing what you’ve heard are other people’s opinions on something.

I think it’s strange but I hear people call in to radio shows like 5live or Talksport and make all sorts of detailed complaints and then find out that they didn’t even see the game. That always has me scratching my head.

Spurs. Bale and that is it.

      Hey tricky,

Do you think Bale is the deciding factor this weekend? He made the difference against West Ham, right?

      Cheers,

      Laurence
