The date and kickoff time for the first el Clásico of 2018 between Barcelona and Real Madrid has been finalized. The two giant Spanish clubs will face each other on Sunday, May 6 with a 2:45pm ET kickoff.

For soccer fans in the United States, the only place to watch it on television will be beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS en Espanol. And the later kickoff time will be ideal to give the Miami-based sports TV network a huge boost. In December, beIN SPORTS’ broadcast of el Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona was always going to be a struggle due to the exceptionally early kickoff time of 7am ET/4pm PT. The December 23 game averaged 845,000 viewers in the United States across the English-language beIN SPORTS and Spanish-language beIN SPORTS en Español networks.

While a later kickoff time will be welcomed, the challenge for beIN SPORTS is that Barcelona is running away with the title in Spain. The club is currently 14 points ahead of Real Madrid.

Still, whenever Barcelona and Real Madrid play each other, it’s always a battle both on and off the pitch.
