Have the Gunners caught lightning in a bottle? You be the judge as we take a look at the apparent Arsenal 2023/24 kit.

Various leaks have shown what appears to be the next home kit for Arsenal FC. Through the magic of technology, we’ve recreated an approximation of the new top.

The shirt uses a raglan sleeve template, which means the traditional white sleeves extend up the shoulders to the collar. Throughout the red body of the shirt is a thin, zig-zag lightning bolt pattern in a slightly darker red.

The Arsenal crest, Adidas logo, shoulder stripes and sleeve cuff detail are all in a gold color, a bit reminiscent of the trim on the 2005/06 shirt from their final season at Highbury.

The back of the shirt echoes the bolt bittern, with a small, wider gold “tag” at the base of the neck. Inside this gold area are the letters “AFC”. A thin strip of white continues down each side of the shirt, though it’s not entirely visible in certain photos. A thin white bit of trim adorns the ring neck collar.

The Emirates logo on the front is done in white – no word yet on the name/number color choice though.

Reviewing the Arsenal 2023/24 Kit

The monotone gold crest and adidas logo on the red looks quite good. It’s a shame they didn’t follow thru with the Emirates logo. The gold also looks nice against the white sleeves – but the mix of all three colors is a little weird.

Something just feels a little clunky about this design. Maybe it’s the gold shoulder stripes that don’t go all the way down the sleeves. Or the awkward little lightning bolt thingy on the upper back. It’s got the DNA of Arsenal, no doubt about that, but if just feels sorta… off. It’s like they made it by cutting the sleeves off of a Madrid top and sewed them onto an Arsenal one. A kit kitbash if you will.
