MLS star Kamara sent to New England Revolution after dispute, criticism

New York (AFP) – Striker Kei Kamara was traded Thursday from the Columbus Crew to the New England Revolution in a Major League Soccer swap days after a heated argument with teammate Federico Higuain. Kamara, a 31-year-old from Sierra Leone who led the MLS with 22 goals last year, was involved in a spat with his Argentine former teammate last Saturday over who would take a penalty in a 4-4 draw with Montreal. On Saturday, July 4th, the Kansas City Wizards hosted the Houston Dynamo at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in front of a sell out crowd of 10,385. This weekend’s MLS action was tainted by the continued insistence of the league not to break or at the very least reduce its schedule for international matches. Landon Donovan, Brad Guzan, Mo Edu, Frankie Hejduk and Rico Clark should not have to take a long flight after one international match only to take a similar length flight after the MLS match back to Europe.
