Saturday night was a big night for the New York Red Bulls as they finally had destiny in their own hands. It was a big match for the club as they needed a single win to put themselves into the postseason and you thought this was going to be a goal fest from the beginning of the match. A Few Moves(not a complete list) As July 1 approached, the time when players contracts would be guaranteed if they were on the roster, MLS clubs made moves. I haven’t listed the players waived or released to make roster room, but some of the new additions are… 26 yr old Alecko Escandarian has moved across the hall as he was picked up by LA from Chivas USA. This weekend’s MLS action was tainted by the continued insistence of the league not to break or at the very least reduce its schedule for international matches. Landon Donovan, Brad Guzan, Mo Edu, Frankie Hejduk and Rico Clark should not have to take a long flight after one international match only to take a similar length flight after the MLS match back to Europe. Coundoul on his way to African Nations Cup

Image from USA Today.com With the African Nations Cup about to begin, The American Soccer Show would like to wish the lone MLS participant, Colorado Rapids Goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul the best of luck. Coundoul whose emergence as a top keeper made Joe Cannon expendable for the Rapids is representing his native nation Senegal in the Cup. Coundoul was an all city keeper as a High School student in New York City and joined the Rapids in 2005. Bouna, fly the MLS flag high in Ghana this month!
