Important cord cutting details to consider
Sling TV, while less expensive, is more flexible with its a la carte offerings. You can pick and choose the different packages you want. But ultimately, depending on what packages you select, you may find yourself paying more for Sling TV than the more expensive competitors.
All three services (YouTube TV vs fuboTV vs Sling TV) offer many of the channels you’re used to watching on cable. Plus, you get your local channels too. However, depending where you live in the country, each service may not offer all the local channels. If any of the streaming services don’t have your favorite local channel, you can get them by using a HD antenna.
If you do decide to cut the cord, you’ll still need Internet service. However, you don’t have to rent the modem from Xfinity each month. On your cable bill, if you have the Xfinity Xfi modem, they charge $25 per month just for the rental fee. You can buy a replacement modem for $100, and then return the Xfi to Comcast. After four months, you save $25 per month moving forward. In one year, that puts an extra $300 in your pocket.
If your local cable company is quoting an extravagant price just for your Internet service, shop around. You may be surprised that there are other companies offering Internet service in your area at a much more affordable rate.
Devices
It’s important to note that you don’t need a cable service. All you need is an Internet connection. With it, you can watch your favorite shows across a range of devices as well as your smart TV.
Firstly, you can watch it on Apple and Android phones. Secondly, it is available on streaming devices such as Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Chromecast. Thirdly, it works on Windows and Apple computers. Fourthly, you can watch on game consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation. Lastly, they are available on smart TVs including LG and Samsung.
