London (AFP) – Danny Rose has signed a new five-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur, the English Premier League club announced Thursday.

The 26-year-old left-back, who has signed a deal that is set to keep him at the north London club until 2021, moved to White Hart Lane from Leeds nine years ago and has since scored seven goals in 93 league appearances.

He follows in the footsteps of Delle Alli, Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Tom Carroll and Harry Winks, who have all extended their contracts in recent weeks.

Rose has not played for Spurs since August because of a hamstring injury but could return on Saturday when Tottenham are away to Middlesbrough.

Rose made his England debut in a 3-2 win over Germany in Berlin in March and went on to play at this year’s European Championships in France.

“We all want to go out and prove that last season was not a one-off with us finishing third,” Rose told Spurs TV.

“Right now I am so happy, I am settled here, I am slowly turning into a southerner so I hope I can stay for a very long time and see where it takes me.”

He added: “At the minute I wouldn’t wish for anything more than to play for Spurs for the rest of my career.

“It’s been a great couple of weeks for the club with Dele, Eric, Christian and Harry Winks all signing contracts.

“Everyone knows that the club is going in the right direction and I’m over the moon that I’ll stay here until I’m an old man!”
