World Cup 2022 group stage schedule

The 2022 World Cup group stage schedule already has a number of fascinating matchups. Historic rivalries in both sport and politics exist. Also, there are matchups of giants in the modern era of soccer.

For example, Belgium and Croatia both had successful runs back in 2018. The former won bronze for third place, while Croatia fell in the final to France. They meet in matchday two of the group stage in this World Cup.

Also, Germany and Spain, which disappointed four years ago, look to make amends in Qatar. Both countries won a World Cup in the last three iterations. Now, each hopes to add to its collection of international hardware.

Regardless of the fixture, each game carries importance. Only two teams advance from each group. Then, the knockout stage ensues in a win or go home scenario.
