Mauricio Pochettino is not using an agent as he negotiates with Chelsea. The former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss has been out of work since departing the French club last summer. He is currently in discussions with the Blues over becoming their new manager.

The Telegraph is reporting that Pochettino and Chelsea are in advance talks and the coach is negotiating alone. Most players and coaches have representation to help in these circumstances, but the Argentine currently represents himself. Instead of an agent, Pochettino’s usual assistant coach Jesús Pérez has joined the process.

Pochettino could become 4th Chelsea manager this season

Chelsea previously fired permanent managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter during the current campaign. Chelsea sacked Tuchel after just six Premier League games this season. Potter, on the other hand, had a little more time at the helm. The English coach managed 31 total matches for the Blues before the sack in early April.

Team brass hired Frank Lampard as caretaker manager. Appointing the former club legend has been a disaster though, as Lampard has lost all five matches in charge. Not only have the Blues lost all of their games under their former star, but they have also played terribly.

In fact, Chelsea has only managed one goal in the five games with Lampard as head coach. Conor Gallagher scored the lone goal via a deflected shot against Brighton on April 15.

Deal verbally agreed between two sides

Talksport is also claiming that Pochettino has verbally agreed to take the Chelsea managerial position. The two sides supposedly only need to iron out the final details of the contract. Chelsea reportedly wants to have a full agreement in place by the end of the week. Nevertheless, the news outlet claims that Lampard will remain with the club until the end of the season. Pochettino will then take over after the 2022/23 campaign.
