How about them Baggies ‘eh? Three wins in a row have seen them rocket up the table and get within touching distance of Liverpool in 7th.
Roy Hodgson’s troops have amassed an amazing 22.47 points from their last three games, which is 20.94% of their total of 107.26. This week saw them overcome a faltering Chelsea side who have seen the gap between themselves and Arsenal to increase 8.67 points. The Blues, who have only got one win in their last five, currently lie a rather disappointing 13td in the form table.
The race to the top table is now as close as it’s been for a very long time. Both Manchester sides won this weekend, but United’s away win at third placed Spurs was worth 2.70 points more than City’s home win over lowly Bolton. Had Jermaine Defoe not scored a late consolation then United would have left White Hart Lane with an extra 0.70 points and an even smaller gap between themselves and their rivals. City’s next game sees them visit Swansea which has proved tough for many visiting sides this season, but will prove a great chance to register another away win.
The tussle at the bottom is also proving to be something of an enigma, with five teams are separated by the tiny margin of 2.79 points. All of the bottom sides failed to win at the weekend, but should any of them put a run together, as West Brom have shown, they can pull themselves out of danger. Of the bottom five, it was QPR who were the top scorers, earning 3.62 points for their draw at home to Everton.
Arsenal currently find themselves at the top of the form table after a run of high scoring performances and wins over good opposition. Their last five games have seen them beat Spurs, Liverpool and Sunderland as well as their 7-1 mauling of Blackburn. Their good run means that someone is finally putting some pressure on Tottenham in 3rd, which means that any position from 2nd downwards is still up for grabs for a number of sides.
