Mario Yepes, Camilo Zúñiga, and Cristian Zapata make their respective returns to the Colombian national team.   All three players were part of Eduardo Lara’s call up for the Colombian’s upcoming friendly against Haiti in the city of Pereira.

Zapata has become one of the young defensive stars in Serie A as he has esatblished himself as one of the sure starters for Udinese on a week in week out basis.   He was until recently being looked at as a possible defensive reonforcement by Arsenal during last summer’s transfer window, until the Italian side rejected a 9.5 million euro bid.

Yepes has always been a stalwart in the Colombian defense, after being gone from the national team for well over two years. The  return of the former PSG man lifted the team morale as they were able to shutout Brazil on the road, ending a four-match losing three-mathc losing streak.

Although he has been limited in play, Camilo Zúñiga is one of the young promises of Italian football.   The former Atlético Nacional defender has been compared to players the like of Cafú and Roberto Carlos, but it has taken him a bit to adjust to play in Serie A in his first few months.
