Real Madrid remain silent on Toni Kroos’ condition prior to Juventus clash

The availability of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos for Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final return leg against Juventus is still up for question after the German international only carried out part of today training session.

On Saturday, Kroos picked up what appeared to be a hip injury during the early part of his side’s 2-2 draw against Valencia. The midfielder was substituted during the 24th minute of the contest, with initial reports claiming he had suffered a muscle injury.

However yesterday, following an examination of his hip, Kroos took to his official Twitter account to calm the nerves of Real Madrid supporters who feared the midfielder would be absent from the decisive return leg against Juventus – which Madrid trail 2-1.

“Thank you for your kind messages,” Kroos wrote on his Twitter feed on Sunday.

“I’ve just been through the examination. Don’t worry. Let’s focus on Wednesday.”

Despite the positive words, Kroos only carried out part of Real Madrid’s training session with his teammates earlier today.

The club itself has not released any information about the player’s physical state. The only public comments made were by manager Carlo Ancelotti during the moments following Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday.

In other team news, forward Gareth Bale did not take part in first team training at all on Monday.

The Welshman worked indoors at the Valdebebas training facilities while the rest of the squad prepared for Juventus.

It is not yet known if Bale trained separately from the squad as a precaution, or if there is something physically wrong with the forward.

Bale returned to the Madrid lineup last week against Sevilla after being sidelined for a few weeks with a calf injury.

Programming note: Real Madrid vs. Juventus will be shown LIVE on Wednesday at 2:45pm EST on FOX Sports 1 and FoxSoccer2Go.
