The Capital One Cup quarter-final draw was held following the completion of the Newcastle United’s 2-0 victory over title-holders Manchester City.
The standout tie will be Championship side AFC Bournemouth hosting Premier league giants Liverpool. The Cherries got to the last-eight of the competition for the first time in club history by beating West Brom 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Another Championship club, Derby County, will host the current leaders of the Premier League, Chelsea, in another quarter-final tie.
In the remaining ties: League One’s Sheffield United will be home to in-form Southampton and Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspurs will have a chance to reverse last weekend’s 2-1 league defeat to Newcastle United when Alan Pardew’s side return to White Hart Lane for a Capital One Cup final-eight encounter.
Ties will be played on the week commencing December 15th.
Bournemouth v. Liverpool
Derby v. Chelsea
Sheffield United v. Southampton
Tottenham v. Newcastle United

On current form Bournemouth stand an excellent chance of causing an upset. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the Premiership next season either.
Anybody know what is the home/away rule for this tournament?
It’s single elimination until the semi-finals. The semi-finals are two legs (home and away).
Right but how was the home team decided for this draw, seems like the higher ranked league team plays away?
It’s a completely random draw. Balls are mixed into one bowl, and then the draw is done on live television. There’s no seeding.
Thanks Gaffer, never bother to dig into this tournament much but this year there have been some exciting matches, hope it will continue in the next round.
Definitely, I agree. For me, the League Cup has been more exciting than the FA Cup in the past 5 years.
