The Hague (AFP) – Top Amsterdam club Ajax are set to name the relatively inexperienced Marcel Keizer as new coach following the departure of Peter Bosz for Borussia Dortmund after a single season, Dutch media reports said Tuesday.

“Ajax are going to name Marcel Keizer as new trainer, to follow Peter Bosz,” both popular daily tabloids Algemeen Dagblad and De Telegraaf reported.

Keizer is currently head coach of Jong Ajax (Young Ajax), the powerful club’s second team which shot to second place in this years’ second tier Jupiler League behind VVV-Venlo.

“Contractual negotiations between the Jong Ajax manager and the Amsterdam-based club have commenced,” De Telegraaf said.

The papers called his appointment “a gamble” as Keizer lacked experience on the highest level, having only worked with small Dutch clubs such as Cambuur and Emmen and taking the field for Ajax only four times as a player.

But “Ajax liked the way he worked as coach with Jong Ajax with whom he ended second in the Jupiler league this season,” the AD added.

Ajax lost the Europa League final to Manchester United last month, and at home,  finished second to archrivals Feyenoord.
