Everton is one of many teams scheduling a summer tour of the USA to get set for the 2022/23 campaign. The Toffees take on a fellow Premier League rival, only this time outside of England. Plus, Everton plays a young MLS side for the first time in its history.

Everton is no stranger to making a trip over to the United States for preseason friendlies. In fact, Everton played in the Florida Cup in 2021. Rafael Benitez managed his first game with Everton against Colombian side Millonarios. Everton won both its games down in Orlando at Camping World Stadium. The second game came against Mexican side Pumas, which went on to the CONCACAF Champions League Final.

Everton’s 2021/22 did not play out nearly as well as its summer 2021 trip foreshadowed. A relegation battle that, with four games remaining, is not yet put away caused frustration around Goodison Park.

With Frank Lampard at the helm, at least for the time being, Everton will hope a familiar foe could provide better insight into the club’s upcoming season.

Everton summer tour of the USA

The first game for Everton this summer comes on July 16. It’s Everton against Arsenal at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The two clubs have great success historically when it comes to the Premier League and English competitions.

The game in Baltimore is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, which would be midnight back in Liverpool.

The second game for Everton in the United States comes against a relatively new MLS club. Minnesota United, formed in March of 2015, welcomes Everton to Allianz Field in Minneapolis on Wednesday, July 20. Unsurprisingly, this is the first time these two sides are playing.

Moreover, it is something of a special game. Minnesota United’s head coach Adrian Heath played for Everton as a striker and attacking midfielder during the 1980s. In all, Heath played in 308 games for the Toffees, scoring 94 goals.
