If you’re New York City FC’s David Villa, you stream the games online to your phone or tablet.
“I like following La Liga,” said Villa, who spoke exclusively to World Soccer Talk. “And with GO90, I’m very happy with it so I can watch the games whenever I have time.”
GO90 is a streaming service from Verizon Wireless that features live and on-demand coverage of beIN SPORTS for your phone or tablet free of charge. You can watch La Liga, Serie A and plenty of other leagues from around the world. If you’re a Verizon customer, you can use GO90 to watch as much soccer as you like without it counting against your data plan. There’s no subscription required to the streaming service. Plus, there’s no subscription needed for beIN SPORTS or Univision Deportes. Even if you’re not a Verizon Wireless customer, you can still download the app and watch games for free too.
On Wednesday, I attended an event in New York City to watch Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid in a bar with David Villa and several other soccer journalists. It was fitting that the game featured Barca and Atleti, Villa’s former teams. And given that Villa didn’t want to predict a winner before the game, the final 1-1 scoreline kept both Villa and the Barca/Atleti fans happy.
In the Tavern on Third sports bar where the event was held, the game was streamed live via GO90 to more than a dozen TV’s around the bar. With the match being televised by beIN SPORTS, the voices of Ray Hudson and Phil Schoen bellowed out through the whole bar and seating area. The picture quality was impressive. If anyone had wandered off the street into the bar, they would have never guessed the TV feed was beamed from a wireless streaming service.
