In its coverage of world-class soccer tournaments, one of the traditions that ESPN began at World Cup 2010 was the creation of a set of posters — one for each team — to promote the event.

For the last European Championship, the set of Euro 2012 posters featured a combination of iconographic photos with the flags of each country. Then for the last World Cup, ESPN went for illustrated World Cup 2014 posters. But the one that started the trend, ESPN’s World Cup 2010 posters, were probably the best yet.

The designer of ESPN’s Euro 2016 posters is Florian Nicolle, a French artist. He describes his designs as artwork “that retains its freshness of the first paint stroke, the expressions of the line have to be very free and spontaneous while keeping a rigorous drawing.”
