Did you miss us? Kartik Krishnaiyer, Laurence McKenna and I missed you during out near-two week break, with the EPL Talk podcast going silent during the international break. With players returning to their clubs, the show is back to look ahead to the eighth match day in the English Premier League.

There is, however, this small news story to discuss first, with Liverpool on the verge of being sold to a different set of American owners. For the first half of the show, we talk about the slow and merciless end to the Tom Hicks, George Gillett era at Anfield.

Interesting analysis of Henry and the impact he made on not only the Florida Marlins baseball club, but the Boston Red Sox and their subsequent World Series win. It’s also of interest to look at the effect Hicks has had on his past American franchises; earlier this year Hicks defaulted on a $525 million loan that affected the Dallas Stars hockey franchise and the Texas Rangers baseball club going into bankruptcy. The Rangers have since been purchased by another party and are on the verge of appearing in Baseball’s championship series.
With the past histories of Henry and Hicks it would appear that luck would favor Liverpool turning their season around very soon. Hopefully if this happens Liverpool fans won’t act like Red Sox fans and become hated acrossed the world for their behavior.

Loved the podcast. Usually I just comment here to criticize articles that I (pompously?) think are weak. I write sometimes here too, search for yourself. But hey–the podcast is solid. New serial listener here. Cheers
