Craig Bellamy Punches A Man United Fan: Video

Bellamy & GarridoMore amazing video clips are a click away

After one of the most exciting Manchester derbies ended yesterday, tempers flared again after an alleged Manchester United supporter ran on to the pitch and was then tackled by stewards. However, while the stewards held the offender, Manchester City’s Craig Bellamy walked over and punched him in the face.

Man United players immediately came up to Bellamy and expressed their disdain at the Welshman’s actions.

A close-up picture of the incident showing Bellamy throwing the punch can be seen here.

The video also shows Javier Garrido being struck by a coin thrown by a Manchester United supporter at half-time.

Thanks to 101 Great Goals for finding the video from Match Of The Day 2 regarding the above incident.

I remember Aliadiere getting sent of for something much less than. He literally tapped Mascherano and ended up with a 4 match ban. So going by FA laws Bellamy shoukd be given a 3 match ban since the 4 came after he rightly appealed.

While I realize that the violent conduct rules are meant to keep the game civilized, I strongly feel that any fan leaving the stands and entering the field of play in any sport does so at their own peril. If a few of these idiots got cold-cocked they might realize that staying in the stands where they belong may be a pretty good idea.

Mark the game was not over and Owen had just scored. Bellamy had every right to approach and ask the stewards to get him off the pitch ASAP as it was our time being wasted. At first I thought that the game was over and I couldn’t understand why he had gone over to them, but it wasn’t and there was still time left.

Idiot there is no hit or this scum bag would be pressing charges and as I said he is with in his rights when its his teams time being wasted by this vermin to tell them to drag, throw or kick him off the pitch as he’s waiting for kick off and there taking there time.
Maybe he was telling the cockroach to tell Hughes to put another forward on, this would be in keeping with you idiotic De Jong tells him what to do, or maybe you shouldn’t listen to presenters who clearly don’t know what there talking about they have made you look quite silly. I watch the same game as you only I make my mind up and take points from others unlike yourself whatever you told will do, who told you Bellamy’s a child molester you nob the same presenter?

I love how defensive you are being about this! Do you have a man-crush on Bellamy or something? He’s clearly done something wrong even if it were a slap! A player with respect and a little bit of common sense would never have done this, and all this bulls**t you are spewing out about how Neville has a history in celebrating, maybe it’s because United have won lots of trophies and have played in highly emotional games? Anyway, at least its better than your boy Bellamy and his anger issues…

That is violent conduct and he will be punished for it. ABSOLUTELY uncalled for. He had no reason to walk up to the fan and slap or punch him (whatever you want to called it, there’s contact…). The stewards had him under control and this Bellamy guy has no business there. I like how he shits his pants when Ferdinand walks up to him though lol

We should all be glad Bellamy didn’t run to the dressing room and come back with a 9 iron — ask John Arne Riise for details.

Bellamy is a tool of the highest order. My brother was a high school principal back in Scotland and one of his former pupils plays for Celtic. He was speaking to him — and the conversation got back to Bellamy, who had a short stint at Celtic between clubs.

The player said they were all embarrassed to have Bellamy as a teammate — he was just a complete tosser. He’d go up to the opposing center-back at the beginning of each game and say “I’m on 50 grand a week, what do you make you Scottish wank?”.

He’s a chav and will end up as a drunk in a Swansea pub 5 years from now.

Clearly you are an angry Elf. Your manager is out of his depth: players screaming at him from the centre circle (the outstanding De Jong) to change tactics because they were being overrun in midfield. Managers are supposed to work that out, not be told by players what to do.

Bellamy is a nonce of the highest order. I wouldn’t want him at my club.

        • Huh

          September 21, 2009 at 8:03 pm

Your clearly not right in the head. Screaming from the centre circle to the touch line imagine that! do you think that 77,000 people might make someone have to shout from that distance? Oh by the way I don’t know what your on about, and blatantly neither do you. Bellamys a nonce, Hmm good argument so your saying he’s a child molester?

What tactics did De jong ask for because if your being over run in midfield you don’t take off you holding midfielder. What did he ask for cause I didn’t hear? My god that was a bad mistake by De Jong he took himself off for Petrov I’m starting to think u got a point sausage! De Jong is as bad as Hughes!

            September 21, 2009 at 9:13 pm

He was asking for a change when it was 2-2 and they were being demolished. The commentators were going on about it. De Jong was brought off when they were down 3-2 and had to chase the game… they brought on the more attacking Petrov…..who promptly got a great pass from Ferdinand!

Have you ever been wrong about anything in your life? Nah….thought not.

          • Cam

            September 22, 2009 at 12:55 am

I believe it was due to the fact that when Valencia came on Ireland was pushed back into the 4-4-2 formation and City ended up getting dominated! And it wasn’t just De-Jong screaming at him either, it was Ireland and Barry as well.
Hughes doesn’t seem to have much control over his team, first Adebayor, now Bellamy. What next? The start of the demise is near =)
Also, all this talk about how they were cheated through penalty time is plainly stupid! If you read the rules the time put up is a MINIMUM amount of stoppage time, the ref is the one who chooses to end the game and you play to the end!

That was a weak slap/punch but that is besides the point. The steward was doing his job, he had tackled the man to the ground and neutralized him. Why Bellamy felt the need to work over to the man and punch him is only known to him. I am not condoning pitch invasion, but Bellamy’s reaction seem unnecessarily reactionary against and idiot that has been subdued. If the F.A. does look into this Bellamy will be meted a suspended sentence at the most.

  9. Gaz

    September 21, 2009 at 10:12 am

He didn’t really punch him, did he? It wasn’t even really a slap. It was more of a jerking of the head to the side.

That picture above caught his hand at a moment that looks like a punch but you can clearly see in the video that it wasn’t quite that bad.

What Adebayor did last week was a disgrace… this doesn’t seem nearly as bad.

Having said that… it was still stupid and unprofessional.

City look to be a great team but they need to get all the egos in check. It’s all being directed to other teams right now but what happens when there is some sort of fight within the team? It’s only a matter of time before they start to implode, methinks.

    • The Gaffer

      September 21, 2009 at 10:19 am

Gaz, I predicted Man City would end in eighth place this season. Despite an excellent start, my thinking was that they would implode. Too many personalities and difficult players to manage such as Robinho and Bellamy. I hope they do better than eighth because they’re an incredibly exciting team to watch, but I feel it’s going to be a real test of Mark Hughes’s man-management skills this season.

These guys are all having problems with others right now but the time will come when they start to turn on one another.

And I don’t think Mark Hughes is the man to deal with this kind of stuff.

        September 21, 2009 at 4:16 pm

        Full post-

If they don’t finish 6th Mark will be gone, but things look good .No more personality probs than Chelsea or Utd. I don’t see what problem Robinho is? Bellamy has always been a bit narky but nothing Hughes hasn’t had before (had this player with Wales & Blackburn) and he still wants him. As for Ade there was always going to be problems with that game (Arsenal) with the press and friction with the fans. I don’t see any problems, and think we will finish in the top 6. It’s a good hard working side with masses of talent and a new found will to win instead of the old let get our wages and go home attitude. I think u might get a surprised come May Gaffer.

          September 21, 2009 at 6:36 pm

You are clearly the most biased Man City supporter on here mate! Clearly blinded by the love for your own team…Bellamy can’t stop complaining, the first game they have lost and he loses his control! You can’t blame the press or it being against Arsenal for Adebayors stupidity last week, you would think (like Tevez) that playing your old team would be a happy occasion and to stomp on a players face and deliberately egg on the crowd is clearly trying to say something! And Robinho, what about the whole leaving the squad and not telling anyone last year?? But no you’re right, Man City have no personality problems whatsoever…..

          • Huh

            September 21, 2009 at 7:36 pm

What are these complaints of Bellamy’s then? and how did he lose control? by telling a prick to get off the pitch and when this prick thrusts his head toward him to either spit or give verbal abuse, shove it back. I hope the police have give him the punch he deserved for his disgusting behaviour. By the way he has now been charged by the police and banned for life by Utd. Cam, is Ade’s stupidity any worse than Neville’s who is now being put in front of the F.A for running the full length of the touch line to celebrate in front of the City fans on full time after being warned about his future conduct after the Liverpool badge kissing and celebrations in front of their crowd 2-1 to Neville on that front then. Oh but you never knew that did you! well ya do now, and your crowd of happy fun loving people didn’t need egging on after a pitch invasion and the ‘happy occasion’ coin throwing at Tevez’s face! (his little face lit up or was that the blood splatering from Garrido’s head) Also what about the happy booing he received (what planet are u from?) and the verbal abuse of our subs all throughout the gae this all made for a lovely day didn’t it. We’ve been down the Robinho road before and u were told that he received the biggest fine ever dished out in the EPL if not the world of football. The day he throws his boots at the ground and takes a hissy fit on live T.V after being subbed will be a day I say get rid, wonder what fine he got for this embarrassing behaviour? (that’s Rooney in case you don’t know) or maybe he’ll purposefully miss a couple of F.A drug tests and get banned for months do you remember this endearing behaviour (Ferdinand). All this is of course impeccable behaviour isn’t it, fitting of the Champions of England. Get real Cam your glass house has many more cracks in it than ours! Cam don’t forget to answer the questions, I think there are four of them!

          • Huh

FIrstly Huh, I would say Adebayor is MUCH worse than Neville. I couldn’t even compare the two. Adebayor showed no remorse for his actions towards Van Persie or any of his ex-team mates, a fake apology doesn’t come close to what a normal person would do! And are you forgetting a Steward got hurt in the process? As for Neville, I notice you defending Adebayor for the same thing Neville has done! You’re bit of a hypocrite don’t you think??
In regards to Bellamy, if you watched him closely he was in the ear of the ref the whole second half complaining about every second thing that happened, and there was also no need for him to get involved with the pitch invader. Again, just a show of emotion from Bellamy which is going to get himself and his team into more trouble!
Fans who boo and abuse players has been a part of the game FOREVER! Your team has done it, my team has done it, EVERY team has done it, so again stop being such a hypocrite and get over it. I’m talking about PLAYERS with personality problems, not fans. As for the pitch invader, don’t they all get banned for life?? I also like to see you condone violence with police towards fans! Your just as bad as the pitch invader mate!
Everyone knows Rooney has a bad temper, its no surprise to anyone! I would never sell him based on the fact that he wants to keep playing when subbed off. To me that shows passion and that is what you want, not a player who is in it for the cash (Lescott and most of the new comers to City)! I’ll never say there aren’t personality problems at United, you could see it with Ronny, you could see it with Tevez, I guess I’m not as blind as you are though, looking through those rose coloured glasses must make you feel good about the scum like team you are supporting!
Don’t bring up Ferdinand unless you know what you are talking about. Firstly it was ONE test, not a couple as you have so wrongly described, secondly, a Manchester City player (Christian Negouai) missed a drugs test and got away with a measley little fine, again your hypocrisy astounds me!
Apologies in advance if I didn’t answer all your questions!

Oh dear how much bollocks can you fit in one paragraph? Did Keane show remorse when he finish a fellow professionals career (Hangland) or did he glorify it in a book a after telling everyone he purposefully injured him, unlike Ade (who has said a million time there was no intension) he has said ‘I wanted to do him’ as Utd fan you must feel proud of this then eh? Or did you just forget while you were trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill with Ade because there are and will be many worse fouls than this in the coming season .You and other idiots on here seem to think he waited for his head to be under him so he could do this! How did RVP get into this position’ Hmmm that was it a deliberate foul by him. People like you sit there saying Scholes he just can’t tackle can he as he scythes down another player by the ankles this is hypocrisy my friend he is just plain dirty not lovable old Paul!

‘Bellamy, if you watched him closely he was in the ear of the ref the whole second half’ how did you watch him closely in the second half did you have a Bellamy cam, Cam? Your talking crap mate just like randomredsausage who seems to think De Jong was Managing the team funny how you lot seem to invent things that you think you have seen. Oh and by the way he had every right to go over to the steward to ask them to get a move on in removing this bacteria as it was our time he was wasting after the Owen goal!

Fan booing yes this has been happening for a while, ABUSE, COIN THROWING AND PITCH INVASIONS NO! all have been reported it was that bad and not by City but by Officials! this behaviour gets little press why is that? And what happened to the press coverage we all know these things happened. Why no section on here so Utd’s players and fans can be slated for there behaviour like Ade’s or Bellamy’s? Don’t tell me people get banned for life mate because its totally imposable to enforce!
What Fan? This thing is a criminal not a fan and the way to deal with this sort of trash is to say don’t come again, see you in two weeks is it? They can do nothing about this. Yes I hope the police gave him a slap because I remember this kind of thing before. and in reality nothing gets done about it that why it never gos away, this probably sends the message that you think is right eh Mr Liberal. I’m as bad as this slime am I? The only pitches I was ever on were the one I was playing on sir, and I’ve been to hundreds of more matches than this protozoa though the 70s, 80,s 90,s and this decade and never felt the need to throw a coin, call a player a fagot or sing racist chants maybe you do, after all you think this rat is a fan who was hard done by!

‘Every one knows Rooney has a bad temper’ Oh thats ok then not a problem with his personality because we know about it just like we know good old scholsey can’t tackle eh? its ok cos he’s one of us. Look at what your writing man! Are these not personality problems? But passion, not biased at all then? There are no blue roses by the way so you need to have a good look at your glasses! Your not blind but you can’t see. Scum team? Your Known as the scum by every team in the league you fool ask Liverpool, Everton or Villa fans who they know as the scum they will tell you United, this is because of your players and the arrogance of your fans and Manager!

I will bring Ferdinand up because I clearly know more that you! Ferdinand said that he needed to be at an appointment after training and left knowing he had a drug test straight away he was called regarding this but didn’t return the calls to return for another chance to take it. He later claimed he had forgotten because he was moving house in the end he was charged with failure to submit to a drug test instead of refusal which it was. Its clearly avoidance and therefore refusal but a lesser charge was worked out and accepted. Refusal would have given a 2 year ban. He took the test 2 days later but as most drugs only stay in the urine for 4 days and it was negative he should have had a hair test. Christian Negouai’s case is totally different to Ferdinand’s his legal team tried to use this at the time in his defence but it was dismissed Negouai never left the site of the drug test or turned his phone off! He called them to let them know he was delayed in traffic while this was accepted a small fine was handed out a he was drug tested ASAP, but you wont see the difference will you . Oh you didn’t answer my other question. What planet are you from. Mind you, you would have probably get this wrong as well!!

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bellamy get a 3 match ban for that. In fact, I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t.

It’s in the juridiction of the referee (even though the final whistle has gone). The referee will be asked whether he would have sent the player off if he had seen it. The answer is surely yes.

It’s violent conduct. Remember Fuller getting sent off for cuffing his own player? It doesn’t matter whether it’s against an opponent, a team mate, or anyone else – if you hit someone in the face, you’re going to get a red card.

I wonder when Hughes will get tired of defending his dumb players? Adebayor last week, Bellamy this week. All self-inflicted wounds.

I’m sure in the cold light of day he’ll also understand why the ref added extra extra-time.

There’s no conspiracy against Man City, just stupid players and some bad luck.

Here we go again with the BS. No punch was thrown, fact. The fan gets pulled by stewards and throws something he had in his hand to the ground then Bellamy goes over to the fan (I don’t know why) the fan then appears to push his head towards the player while opening his mouth either intending to give out abuse or spitting the player then shoves his face back with his hand, Utd players come over to have a go at Bellamy he says something, Rooney pats him on the back and any problem has ended. Probable out come fan gets banned from attending future matches because of pitch invasion (not that this is ever upheld its imposable to enforce). Bellamy gets a warning anything more is well over the top! As for the fan throwing the coin it was clearly aimed at Tevez but missed. The fan is visible throwing the coin (Addidas green stripes on black top) and should also be banned and dependent on what Garrido does. He could face criminal charges but I don’t think Garrido will press charges but he should as this is a throw back to darker days. Greater Manchester Police are investigating the Bellamy incident which means there has been a compliant, the fan will have claimed assault but as this did not happen no problem, but no compliant regarding the coin throw therefore it will be for Utd to deal with which I believe they will.

      September 21, 2009 at 6:06 pm

I now know why Bellamy went over to the fan, to get him off the pitch a bit faster than they were as it was City’s time he was wasting as Owen had just finished his celebration when this low life ran on the pitch. So he wanted the restart fast obviously. Two arguments in one then after OWEN’S GOAL NOT BELLAMY’S (as the totally unbiased MOTD gets it wrong must just be a silly mistake by them eh) we should have had this celebration time back and also the on 3+ minutes it to get this prick and get him off the field of play and the discussions etc that followed between Bellamy, Utd players and ref to end. So 3-4 minutes extra time ontop of the time already gave but only 80 seconds were added why? where is Scott and his magic math when you need him? Please explain this time error Mr Gaffer? because this is not excessive goal celebrations (which by the way he gave every second half goal as excessive to get to 4 mins in the first place) but nailed down time that should have been added on that wasn’t , funny that Utd just got in front when he decides that enough is enough. Please explains this Scott, Gaffer whoever.
