<p>With South Africa vs. Mexico only 49 days away &nbsp;the promotional machine at ESPN is in full swing. Their first TV spot titled <a href="http:\/\/www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfpngHyiRZc">“Robben Island”</a> was released a few weeks ago and highlighted the history of South Africa along with the importance of 2010 being the first World Cup to be played on the continent. Yesterday ESPN released their follow-up, “United.” The 60-second commercial shows the uniting power of the tournament and how people come together regardless of politial or socio-economic differences to cheer on their team. The song in the ad is “Magnificent” by U2 and narrated by Bono. Check out the video embedded below and be on the look out for more commercials from ESPN before June 11.</p>

<p>ESPN unveiled the next phase of their advertising campaign Wednesday to promote its coverage of the 2010 World Cup.</p>
<p>The campaign is entitled “One Game Changes Everything.” The first video, see “Robben Island” video above, began airing across ESPN networks on April 7 and tells the true story of how Nelson Mandela and many South African activists played soccer while incarcerated in a prison on Robben Island. The video is brilliantly shot and gave me goosebumps just watching it.</p>
<p>ESPN will release three more commercials for the “One Game Changes Everything” campaign. <em>UNITED </em>conveys the passion for the FIFA World Cup that unites disparate cultures. <em>The Power of 10</em> celebrates the honor and burden that comes with wearing the most sacred jersey number in soccer.&nbsp;<em>Passion </em>captures the excitement that the FIFA World Cup invokes—highlighting the documented “baby boom” that occurred nine months after Germany hosted the 2006 event.</p>
<p>For music fans, you’ll be glad to know that ESPN will use specially recorded music by Soweto Gospel Choir recorded and filmed in South Africa, with music and live concert footage from U2’s record breaking concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., in October 2009. This collaboration will appear in every program throughout ESPN’s presentation of the 2010 FIFA World Cup including soccer highlights, match and studio coverage.</p>

<p>After weeks of speculation, Barcelona made it official today and in a press release stated that Irish rock band U2 will begin their latest tour at the Nou Camp.  What better opportunity to spread the brand name of FC Barcelona than by having it alongside one of the biggest rock bands in the world.   Well club brass are getting ready for the opportnity as the Irish superband get ready to go on tour this summer.</p>
<p><a href="http:\/\/u2.com/tour/index/">U2´s 360 Tour</a> will kick off at the Nou Camp on June 30th and it is already a sell out.&nbsp; The club is expecting well over a million euros to go into the team coiffeurs.&nbsp; There is also the option of a second date in the Condal City.  The possibility of of marketing the brand name of the team with U2 will be an ideal situation for the club.  This was a great opportunity as this tour along with the Bruce Springsteen concert will leave close to 3 million euros for the <em>Blaugrana </em>by the end of this summer.&nbsp; It is a quantity that is quite welcome especially with the economic situation the club is going through right now.</p>

<p>U2 last came to Barcelona as part of the Vertigo tour back in 2005.  The only difference is that this time they will not make stops in Madrid and San Sebastian.</p>
