<p><em>Panini Legends</em>, a new book about the cult of soccer stickers, features 85 icons such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Franz Beckenbauer, and Bobby Moore as well as Lionel Messi, Marta, Kylian Mbappé, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Alexia Putellas, among many others.</p>



<p>Written by Greg Lansdowne, each of the 85 stars featured includes a selection of photos of the player as featured in Panini stickers from his or her career. Plus there’s a short biography and a list of which Panini albums the star appears in. For the stickers of the stars that are more collectible, the book includes insight into how much some of those individual stickers have sold for at auction.</p>



<p>While featuring legends worldwide, the book is certainly more British-centric. For example, the first six of the seven players featured are British. Keegan, Dalglish, Bale, Gascoigne, Lineker, and Beckham. The exception is Diego Maradona. It would have been more interesting to spread the British stars throughout the book instead of being so very British-heavy in the opening pages.</p>



<p>Nevertheless, there are plenty of other players to browse through of players from around the world.</p>

<h2>Panini Legends book review: Is it worth purchasing?</h2>



<p>Beautifully illustrated, <em>Panini Legends </em>is more helpful as a reference book, stocking stuffer, or collector’s item for enthusiasts who collect Panini soccer stickers. Certainly, however, the opening several pages where it discusses the rise in popularity of Panini <a href="http://worldsoccertalk.com/tag/soccer-stickers/">soccer stickers</a> is interesting, particularly the interest in stickers for women’s soccer competitions such as the Women’s World Cup.</p>



<p>Overall, though, it’s best experienced as a book to flick through. Each player’s history in Panini stickers isn’t must-read material even for someone like myself who is obsessed with collecting Panini stickers.</p>



<p>So, the book ends up being more visually appealing than an interesting read. For many fans, that’s fine in itself. It’s the ideal coffee table book for diehard soccer fans.</p>



<p>Speaking of visuals, it’s eye-opening to see how some players look so different from year to year in the Panini stickers. You can see Thierry Henry practically transform his look in the pages of this book. On the other hand, Mo Salah looks the same now as he did in his early Panini sticker photographs at Fiorentina and AS Roma.</p>



<p>All in all, there are more than 900 stickers featured in the book, so there’s plenty to look at even if the reading is less interesting.</p>

<p>Panini, the company known for its tradition of creating soccer trading cards and stickers, is relinquishing that role for the Premier League to Fanatics brand Topps. The American company will become the Premier League’s exclusive partner beginning in June 2025. Thus, it’ll end the six-year partnership between Panini and the Premier League.</p>



<p>As part of this deal, Fanatics, in collaboration with Topps will create Premier League trading cards. Additionally, Fanatics will sell stickers and related books that fans can collect. Prior to the deal with Panini, Topps sold stickers and related collectives from 1994 to 2019. As a result of adding the Premier League, Fanatics and Topps now have products involving the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/topps-bundesliga-sticker-collections-from-2018-through-2021-video-20210717-CMS-340075.html">Bundesliga</a>, <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/topps-2021-mls-trading-cards-featuring-tanner-tessmann-autograph-video-20210717-CMS-340071.html">Major League Soccer</a> and the UEFA Champions League.</p>



<p>“This is a big deal for us,” David Leiner, Fanatics Collectibles’ president of trading cards, told <em><a href="https://www.cllct.com/sports-collectibles/memorabilia/fanatics-adds-crown-jewel-with-exclusive-deal-for-premier-league-cards" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">cllct</a></em>. “On a global basis, you have arguably the top domestic league in football in the Premier League — some of the top-tier clubs, top-tier players in the world. So, this is absolutely massive.”</p>



<p>Leiner went on to add that the Premier League was one of the jewels that Fanatics was missing in its crown. He hesitated to outwardly commit to what the products would look like in the lineup. However, previous iterations of Topps can point to what is in store for the Premier League.</p>

<h2>Fanatics to bring back popular Premier League trading card packages</h2>



<p>The Topps Chrome set is the company’s most popular form of product that exists in other leagues and sports. Card collectors often preserve the Topps Chrome packs because of their quality and durability. They make it easy for traders to make a profit on valuable cards, particularly when they go up in value over time. Topps released this edition of cards last time it had the rights to the Premier League before Panini took over.</p>



<p>While North America has a strong culture of trading cards, Europe and South America generally have more of a <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/how-to-complete-a-world-cup-sticker-album-20221102-WST-405984.html">preference for stickers</a>. The deal with the Premier League is a way for Topps and Fanatics to continue the growth of the trading card market in Europe.</p>



<p>“I think you’re going to see a massive amount of continued growth in Europe and the same thing in Latin America, which is still very sticker focused,” Leiner said. “I think we’re seeing a burgeoning business there on the trading-card game and trading-card side. And again, I think soccer still has yet to have its day here in North America. Messi coming to MLS is helping to raise the bar. The World Cup coming here is going to raise that bar, but properties like the Premier League are, I think, always going to be the crown jewel of global football.”</p>



<p>Fanatics also may start using shirt patches to add another facet to its base of collectibles. In Major League Soccer, players making their debut wear a <a href="https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-debut-patches-what-to-know-about-the-trading-cards-program" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Debut Patch</a> on their kit. After the game, the kit team removes the patch and uses an adhesive to apply it to a trading card. It will be a one-of-one collectible.</p>

Topps to replace Panini for Premier League cards, stickers

Panini is relinquishing its trading card and sticker duties for the Premier League to Fanatics Collectibles in 2025.

<p>The 2024 Copa America, one of the year’s most talked-about events involving the USA, will have a brand-new collectible sticker book, carrying Panini’s name.</p>



<p>In its newest iteration, the United States will host the CONMEBOL American continent competition from June 20 to July 14.</p>



<p>Along with South American teams, the event also features six CONCACAF qualifiers as guests, representing North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.</p>



<p>Players like Darwin Nunez of Uruguay, Vinicius and Rodrygo of Brazil, and Lionel Messi of Argentina are among the prominent figures included in the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/womens-super-league-has-first-ever-panini-sticker-collection-20231122-WST-472257.html">Panini sticker album</a>.</p>



<p>North American, Caribbean, and Central American teams, as well as South American teams, will be included for the first time, along with all sixteen competing teams. As a result, this is easily one of the most massive tournaments ever.</p>



<p>Martina Limoni, Panini’s head of marketing for Latin America <a href="https://copaamerica.com/news/panini-presenta-album-oficial-de-figuritas-coleccionables-de-la-conmebol-copa-america-usa-2024/?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a>: “Panini has as one of its main responsibilities and characteristics to tell the best stories of sports in a way that captivates collectors. We have no doubt that this edition of the Copa America will be historic, and we want to help all fans record their emotions and memories forever with this great album.”</p>



<h2>Two versions of album with four types of stickers</h2>



<p>There are 440 stickers total, with 20 being exclusives to this set. An additional photograph of each national team’s shield and a group shot of the whole squad will round it off.</p>



<p>Panini has unveiled a new collection featuring special extra stickers, a signature feature of their national team tournament sticker albums. The collection showcases prominent players from various national teams participating in the competition.</p>



<p>Furthermore, names like Lautaro Martinez, Nicolas Otamendi, Lionel Messi, Vinicius, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Alexis Sanchez, and Leon Bailey are included. The stickers come in different color variations – base, bronze, silver, and gold. They will be randomly distributed in packs for fans to collect and play with their friends.</p>



<p>In addition, the publication shows fans all the venues that will play home to the world’s most historic and thrilling national team competition. It also includes a look back at the tournament’s history, and information on previous tournaments, as well as interesting facts about this year’s event, and pertinent statistics.</p>



<p>South American and American markets have been able to purchase the album beginning March 8 of this year. Furthermore, there are two different versions of the 2024 Copa America sticker album: a pocket edition for $3.00, and a hardback version for $11.00.</p>



<p>The packets, which have five stickers apiece, are priced at $1.00 each. You may get this product in kiosks, the top retailers, and even the Panini Store in Brazil.</p>

<p>The first edition of the Women’s Super League stickers on Panini sold out fast with fans actively seeking the collection. The incredible response to the collection has led to stores and the Panini website selling out of the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/womens-super-league-tv-schedule/">Women’s Super League</a> packages. Argos, WH Smiths, Toys R Us, Smyths Toys, and the Panini website listed the product as sold-out. </p>



<p>The stickers first became available in December with fans having the option to purchase them both in-person and online. Both of those sold out, and now Panini is prioritizing the selling of the product in person. There is not necessarily a shortage of stickers, according to Panini. Instead, the company wants to put stickers on shelves so it can allow shoppers to see them in person.</p>



<p>The Italian company released a statement explaining its decision to put stickers back in stores.</p>



<p>“We have prioritised bricks and mortar retailers to make the product accessible immediately for collectors,” <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/68029325.amp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Panini said</a>. “It’s been an incredible response and we’re delighted to have been able to bring this level of excitement and engagement to the first ever Women’s Super League Sticker Collection.”</p>



<p>According to BBC, Panini did not announce how many stickers or packs of stickers sold since their release last month. The only thing Panini would say is that it has sold millions of packs.</p>

<h2>Panini Women’s Super League stickers feature the best from the league</h2>



<p>Each of the packs Panini is selling has players from clubs in the Women’s Super League. Additionally, there are iconic players from the Women’s Super League and the rest of the sport. Panini is making a push to be more involved in the women’s game. These Women’s Super League stickers from Panini are the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/womens-super-league-has-first-ever-panini-sticker-collection-20231122-WST-472257.html">first to feature the top women’s division</a> in England. Also, Panini sold sticker packets and books for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.</p>



<p>The Panini sticker collection books started in the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany. The growth in stickers and packets coincides with the rapid development of the Women’s Super League. The English Football Association reported a 170% increase in attendance across the Women’s Super League. Clubs have even put games in the stadiums traditionally reserved for the men’s side. Arsenal put five games at the Emirates Stadium for the 2023/24 campaign.</p>



<h2>Comparing the Women’s Super League to the Premier League</h2>



<p>Those were successful, and the recent addition of the Panini packs for the Women’s Super League has been equally successful. However, it still fails to compare to the sticker packages regarding the Premier League. Panini’s sticker packs date back to 1970, but the Premier League remains one of its biggest selling points. </p>



<p>“The Premier League sticker collection has built its following over several years so is not comparable,” it added.</p>



<p>However, if women’s soccer can continue to grow, there is a possibility the Panini packs for the Women’s Super League can rival the sales of packages in the men’s game in the future. However, that will take time for women’s soccer to continue to grow in popularity as a whole.</p>

Panini sells out Women's Super League stickers on website

The first edition of the Women's Super League stickers on Panini sold out fast with fans actively seeking the collection.


<p>The English Football Association announced this week that the Women’s Super League will debut a batch of Panini stickers.</p>



<p>Worldwide, soccer enthusiasts of all ages have treasured their sticker collections. They are well-known for their trading cards and other collectibles. They have never put out a collection that is dedicated only to women’s domestic soccer.</p>



<p>Thus up until today, Panini has just covered women’s international competitions. What this means is that the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/womens-super-league-tv-schedule/">Women’s Super League (WSL)</a> is making a grand entrance. A fresh set of about 350 stickers, including the much-desired shiny ones, will be available. Panini signed a licensing agreement with the English FA.</p>



<p>An album and five sticker packs will be available as a beginning package for collectors. Included in the upcoming WSL sticker album are 12 <em>shinies</em>. These are unique foil stickers representing each of the 12 teams, along with images of league emblems and players.</p>

<h2>WSL only grows in popularity</h2>



<p>With a history of sticker album production dating back to 1970, Panini made its debut with a 2011 World Cup women’s football collection. Debuting last year, they catered to the women’s domestic football market in Spain’s premier division, Liga F.</p>



<p>Panini has announced that the physical Barclays WSL sticker collection will be available for purchase beginning in December. This follows the popularity of previous collections that have celebrated international women’s soccer competitions.</p>



<p>In the wake of <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/uefa-european-championship-tv-schedule/">Euro 2022</a>, the Lionesses’ performance at the 2023 <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/womens-world-cup-tv-schedule/">World Cup</a> marked another turning point. Attendance in the Women’s Super League increased by 170 percent from 2022–23 compared to the previous year. That made the Women’s Super League the most-attended league.</p>



<p>Since it resumed in October, attendance has been setting new records, and experts expect this trend to keep going. This achievement occurs at the same time the Barclays WSL has the most female professional players participating in the FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer.</p>
