<p>Austrian superstar and Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer has reportedly agreed to personal terms with <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/bayern-munich-tv-schedule/">Bayern Munich</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1602647941717819397" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">per Fabrizio Romano</a>. Laimer, who has played just five games with <em>Die Roten Bullen</em>, suffered a high ankle sprain during a 3-0 victory against Dortmund.</p>

<p>Laimer joined RB Salzburg, one of Leipzig’s feeder clubs, when he was a teenager. After working his way through the youth team and enjoying a solid stint with Salzburg; he won three league titles and three domestic cups; he joined Leipzig in 2017 for $7.5 million dollars. Laimer has grown into a dependable piece for Leipzig, making 167 appearances for the side. </p>



<p>Laimer is reportedly paid over $51,000 per week, good for a total of around $2.6 million a year. Despite the hefty contract, Laimer still notified Leipzig officials he wanted to leave the team sometime in the future. His disinterest in a contract extension is a defeat for Leipzig officials who passed on selling him for around $20 million last season.</p>



<p>Bayern and Laimer have been in contact as far back as 2020, when Laimer inked a three-year contract extension with Leipzig. Since then, clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea have all inquired about the Austrian ace, but Bayern has consistently trumped them all in terms of interest.</p>

<p>Pundits have labeled Laimer as the “Austrian N’Golo Kante.” His intensity, pressing, tackling, and possession are unmatched throughout much of the Bundesliga. Unfortunately, his devotion to running has made him very susceptible to injury. Laimer played just four matches for Leipzig in the 2020-21 season thanks to a serious ankle injury. His recent ankle sprain followed a list of ankle problems that kept him off the pitch.</p>



<p>Laimer, who will join in June 2023, will help Julian Nagelsmann and Bayern fill a lack of depth in the midfield positions. The team can only count on Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Marcel Sabitzer to fill the midfield. The Austrian’s presence would be a huge boost for a Bayern team plagued with injuries and suspensions over the past year.</p>



<p>This comes after reported deals for Christopher Nkunku, a loan deal made for Maximilian Wober, and reported interest in Dani Olmo and Josko Gvardiol. </p>
