Liverpool missed two more stars when they hosted Luton on Wednesday, adding to the list of unavailable players.

“The problem at Brentford was that we had changed already twice and if we let him play a little bit longer and say ‘OK how does it feel now?’ That could have been it so we had to take the decision at half-time so we had another opportunity to change in the second half.



“He felt that in that game and there was nothing around. How we said we go day by day and we didn’t train on Tuesday. We will see.”



<h2>What did Klopp say about Liverpool injury woes?</h2>



With Dominik Szoboszlai also sidelined for Luton’s match, the Premier League leaders are without any offensive or midfield depth. In addition to Joel Matip and Stefan Bajcetic, who have been out for some time, Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara, Alisson, and Carlos Alberto are also out.



Klopp has said that Jota will be out for “months,” although the duration of his knee injury is likely to be less severe than that, and he may be able to return as early as the week ending April.

With Tsimikas’ injury, Klopp now has another problem at fullback. The first-choice leftback Andy Robertson is already out with a shoulder injury.



While playing for Scotland on the international stage in October, Robertson hurt his shoulder, which necessitated surgery. At the latest, he won’t be back until next month.

“If it is too much football in December, if you are not in the right shape, give your ticket to somebody else. It was just not the excitement I felt. There were so many good performances, but we were only 1-0 up.”



<h2>Klopp readies for Arsenal’s trip to the Etihad</h2>



On Saturday, the Premier League’s top two teams will meet in a thrilling matchup. Liverpool welcomes <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/arsenal-tv-schedule/">Arsenal</a> to its stadium. The pressure on the Football Association (FA) has mounted due to the expansion of European competitions. This will result in a minimum of 10 matches for each competing side.



As per a report from the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67160330" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BBC</a>, it appears that the FA is on the verge of reaching a decision concerning the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/fa-cup-tv-schedule/">FA Cup</a>. This decision may involve the complete elimination of <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/where-to-watch-the-fa-cup-on-us-tv/">third and fourth-round replays</a>. This proposed change would require matches that end in a draw after 90 minutes to proceed to extra time and, potentially, penalty shootouts.



<h2>Bad news for lower tier teams</h2>



It’s believed that lower league clubs, which often rely on hosting replays to generate revenue, could face adverse consequences from this decision. Additionally, reports indicate that the two-legged semi-finals of the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/league-cup-tv-schedule/">EFL Cup</a> might also be replaced with single-leg matchups.



The exact timeline for the implementation of these changes remains uncertain. But they may coincide with the commencement of a new TV contract for the 2025-26 season.



Historically, replays were a feature in every stage of the FA Cup, even the final. However, in recent years, the FA have been proactive in reducing the number of matches, as seen in the elimination of fifth-round replays back in 2018. Instead, the preference now leans towards settling ties through extra time and penalty shootouts.

Aston Villa's Emery slams Klopp for call for Spurs defeat replay

Unai Emery, manager of Aston Villa, addressed Jurgen Klopp, who said he wanted a replay of the Liverpool-Tottenham game.

Steven Gerrard spoke up about his one change about his time at Liverpool. In doing so, he took a scathing jab at Brendan Rodgers.

I obviously made a decision not to sign a year extension to go to America, whereas if I’d have taken the extension, I might have got six months under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.



“But obviously being under Brendan’s management at the time, I was told my game time was going to get less and less. I didn’t want to be a sub for Liverpool, I didn’t want to be a squad player.



“I still felt I was the best midfielder there at the time. But in hindsight, if I’d have knew what was going to come off, 100 percent I’d have signed the year extension and I’d have put up with four or five months of Brendan to get six months of Klopp for sure.”
