The USMNT picked up their <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/pulisic-leads-usmnt-to-7-1-victory-against-grenada-20230325-WST-425228.html">first win of 2023 in Grenada</a> on Friday night. With the win, they secured their place in this summer’s Gold Cup. However, they will need a draw or a win in their final group stage game to secure their place in the Nations League knockout round. That final game is at home against El Salvador. 



<h5>US thrashes Grenada</h5>



While the US looked as good as could have been hoped on Friday, there wasn’t much learned from the game. Yes, the US scored seven goals and got all three points. Yes, the US finally managed to get a win and score some goals. And, yes, the stars like Pulisic and McKennie performed well. 



Friday’s game against Grenada was only the second win in the last ten games for the USMNT. It was also the first time since their last meeting against Grenada (on June 10) that they scored multiple goals in a game.



At the end of the day, Grenada is ranked 173rd in the world. These were the types of games that made <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/us-soccer-needs-a-better-coach-than-gregg-berhalter-20221203-WST-411046.html">Gregg Berhalter’s</a> record appear much more impressive than it actually was. A much tougher test awaits the US in Orlando against El Salvador.

<h2>Draw provides preview of USA and El Salvador</h2>



El Salvador may be a tougher test for the US than Grenada. Even then, the visitors are not in a great run of form right now. In fact, their form is not that dissimilar from the USMNT’s. Los Cuscatlecos are winless in their last five games. Their last win was way back in June of 2022 in the Nations League against Grenada. Like the US, they have struggled to score goals. The last time El Salvador scored multiple goals was also last June against Grenada.



The roster called in by their manager, former US international Hugo Perez, is mostly domestic based. Yet, it does feature several players who play for clubs in the US. Two of their guys play in MLS: defender Alex Zavaleta of LA Galaxy defender Alex Roldan of the Seattle Sounders. They also have three players who play in the USL. Bryan Tamacas of the Oakland Roots, Nelson Flores of North Carolina FC and Jairo Henriquez of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. 



The reverse fixture of the USA and El Salvador can provide a preview of what is to come Monday night. A <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zupVG1nzBaA" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">1-1 draw in June</a> continued a trend of close games, with the last three fixtures yielding two draws and a 1-0 win for the USMNT in World Cup qualifying.



<h5>Game information</h5>



Monday night’s contest kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT and Universo. It is taking place at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, a familiar spot for the USMNT. This is the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/the-10-cities-the-usmnt-visits-most-20230121-WST-415663.html">sixth USMNT game at Exploria Stadium</a> in the last five-and-a-half years.



The United States has never lost to El Salvador. In 26 fixtures, the USMNT has 19 wins and seven draws. If it continues that trend tonight, a draw would be good enough to get into the CONCACAF Nations League Final.



After this, the international break closes. The USMNT will not regroup until the newly formed <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/usmnt-and-mexico-to-play-in-continental-clasico-in-april-20230314-WST-423324.html">Continental Clasico</a> against Mexico on April 19 in Glendale, AZ.

USA vs El Salvador preview: Nations League group stage finale

The semifinal and final of the 2023 <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/concacaf-nations-league-schedule/">CONCACAF Nations League</a> is headed to Las Vegas. On Monday, CONCACAF, the governing body for North American soccer, announced Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium will host the three-game mini-tournament. 



Las Vegas is not new to hosting meaningful and major matches. Last summer, Allegiant Stadium saw <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWewjcIfMYQ" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Real Madrid battle Barcelona</a> in the second edition of <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/06/10/barca-to-play-real-madrid-in-pre-season-clasico-in-las-vegas/">El Clasico</a> in the United States. The summer before that saw the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/usmnt-tv-schedule/">USMNT</a> in action. The United States defeated Mexico in the Gold Cup Final in extra time at Allegiant Stadium to win its second trophy of the summer. Interestingly, the first of those two trophies was the CONCACAF Nations League Finals in 2021. However, Denver hosted that three-game competition among four teams.



This year, it is Las Vegas’s turn to host. The four competing teams come from the winners of each of the groups in the CONCACAF Nations League A. After that phase wraps up, the highest-finishing team from the effective group stage plays the lowest-finishing group winner based on points total in the semifinals of the Nations League. Both of the semifinals for the CONCACAF Nations League are on Thursday, June 15. The Final is just a few days later on Sunday, June 18. If it is anything as dramatic as the Final in 2021, it will be worth it to watch.

Tickets for the Nations League Finals in Las Vegas go on sale before the first phase of the competition concludes. Sale opens Monday, March 27, at 1 p.m. ET. However, the United States, Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica all have two games to play in the three-team round robin. Some of them play later that day, or even on Tuesday, March 28.



<h2>Las Vegas hosting the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals</h2>



As part of Monday’s announcement on the venue, CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani is excited to get more important games in Las Vegas.



“The City of Las Vegas and Allegiant Stadium will be tremendous hosts of the 2022/23 Concacaf Nations League Finals,” Montagliani said. “We all enjoyed an outstanding Gold Cup Final at the same venue in 2021, and I have no doubt the quality of the teams combined with the world-class facility will draw fans from across our region.”



To be fair, Allegiant Stadium is a state-of-the-art location. Opening in the summer of 2020, the stadium cost an estimated $2 billion. The home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, Allegiant Stadium will add another soccer game to its already impressive list of hosting achievements.

Las Vegas to host 2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals

Tyler Adams will not take part of the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/nations/usmnt-tv-schedule/">United States men’s national team</a> matches in March. The Leeds United midfielder suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the week. He will miss a Premier League matchup with Wolves on Saturday, as well.



“Tyler Adams has sustained a hamstring injury in training this week and will therefore not be joining up with the USMNT for international duty after Saturday’s game with Wolves,” a <a href="https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/31183/injury-update-tyler-adams" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">statement</a> by Leeds read on Wednesday. “The midfielder will remain at Thorp Arch for further assessment.”



Despite the disappointing season by his club, Adams has been a standout performer for Leeds during the campaign. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder was also named captain for the USMNT ahead of the 2022 World Cup. He became the youngest player to captain the Stars and Stripes since 1950.



<h5>Key players return thanks to international break</h5>



USMNT interim head coach Anthony Hudson is bringing back some key players ahead of the upcoming fixtures. In fact, only Alan Soñora and <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/zendejas-picks-usmnt-over-mexico-20230314-WST-423303.html">Alex Zendejas</a> keep their place from the January team roster. Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah, Brenden Aaronson, and Weston McKennie highlight the roster revealed on Wednesday.



However, one player in particular was perhaps the main focus of attention: Gio Reyna. The Borussia Dortmund star’s name has been in the headlines recently following an investigation showed that <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/investigation-shows-claudio-reyna-pestered-us-soccer-over-gio-20230313-WST-423230.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Claudio Reyna pestered U.S. Soccer</a> over his son, Gio. Despite the negative news, Hudson claimed on Wednesday that Reyna is still a part of the USMNT setup.

“As I’ve said before, the situation during the World Cup was handled as a group, there was a positive response from the player, and we all moved forward,” Hudson <a href="https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2023/03/q-a-anthony-hudson-discusses-march-usmnt-nations-league-roster" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a> in a Q&amp;A with U.S. Soccer.

“Clearly it became a bit more complex in the months since the World Cup, but as far as we’re concerned Gio is a part of our program. He’s a good guy and a top talent and he is evaluated like any other player. We made the roster decisions based on what gives the team the best opportunity to win these games and we brought him in because we think he can help us do that.”



Reyna, along with the 23 other players, face Grenada and El Salvador later this month. The two fixtures are part of the<a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/concacaf-nations-league-schedule/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> CONCACAF Nations League</a>. The USMNT will first travel to Grenada on March 24th and then host El Salvador three days later.

Dave: A few US Open Cup questions: 1) Have Turner announced coverage plans and/or outsourced rights to someone else? 2) Which rounds historically are the most entertaining, with a good mix of minnows and big names (like Third/Fourth round proper of FA Cup)? I remember last year having several very fun weeks



World Soccer Talk:&nbsp;1) There has been no additional news about the US Open Cup TV coverage since <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/us-open-cup-media-deal-20220216-CMS-371017.html">our story discussed the deal</a> almost twelve months ago. Once we get closer to the First Round in late March, we expect to have more details about the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/02/15/cindy-parlow-cone-talks-us-soccer-media-rights/">media rights</a>.



2) The round when MLS teams start to enter (this year is the third round, April 25-26) where they will potentially face off against lower division professional or even amateur teams is always a lot of fun. Everyone loves a good underdog story and some giant-killing moments. We’re hoping for another Sacramento-type run this year, just like last year when they <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/09/07/orlando-city-wins-us-open-cup/">reached the US Open Cup final</a>.



Dave, thanks for your questions. It’ll certainly be fascinating to see how Warner Bros-Discovery broadcasts the US Open Cup given that last year’s coverage on <a href="https://go.web.plus.espn.com/mWebq" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ESPN+</a> was one of the best in recent memory.



Bill: Just wondering if you guys went to Fan Fest in Orlando this past weekend and if not, why not (just being nosey)? I know Fan Fest is a very American sports flashy thing and not the seriousness respect of the sport y’all prefer but it looks fun to be there.



World Soccer Talk:&nbsp;We were there. Kartik Krishnaiyer and I arrived on Thursday evening to prepare for our early morning interviews with the talent from NBC Sports on Friday. We interviewed <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/tv/rebecca-lowe-reflects-on-10-years-of-premier-league-on-nbc-20230123-WST-416491.html">Rebecca Lowe</a>, <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/tv/tim-howard-on-his-role-as-the-american-voice-of-premier-league-coverage-20230124-WST-416503.html">Tim Howard</a> and The 2 Robbies. Then on Saturday, I interviewed Alan Shearer, Gary Cahill and NBC Sports executives, so keep an eye out for those interviews later in theweek on this website.



Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend there. For me personally, my favorite part was talking to the soccer fans who traveled from across the country to attend the Fan Fest in Orlando. I also loved seeing all of the different shirts that the American soccer fans wore, which was an eclectic mixture of clubs, to say the least.



If you’re reading this and you’ve never attended any of the Fan Fests, I highly recommend you go to the next one. It was so much fun.



Francisco: For next season, is there going to be any streaming service or channel that is going to pick up the rights to broadcast Italian Serie A in Spanish?



World Soccer Talk:&nbsp;<a href="https://paramountplus.qflm.net/c/330866/1007330/3065" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paramount+</a> continues to have the rights to <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/serie-a-tv-schedule/">Serie A</a> in all languages, but so far the streaming service has been reluctant to offer Spanish-language commentary to the games.



Honestly, though, the cost of providing Spanish-language commentary for Serie A matches may be cost prohibitive. I don’t believe there’s enough demand from Spanish-language viewers to make it worthwhile. 



Francisco, I know that other fans of Serie A have asked for Spanish-language commentary too. My advice would be to try to round up more fans on social media, and ask them to <a href="https://help.paramountplus.com/s/contact-us" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">let Paramount+ know</a> that you want games in Spanish.



Jason: What CONCACAF based competitions are on Paramount+ in 2023?



World Soccer Talk:&nbsp;Looking ahead to 2023, <a href="https://paramountplus.qflm.net/c/330866/1007330/3065" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paramount+</a> has the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/concacaf-nations-league-schedule/">Concacaf Nations League</a>, which returns at the end of March.



Jason: What streaming service has the FIFA Club World Cup in February?



World Soccer Talk:&nbsp;Great question, Jason. As you probably know, FOX Sports and Telemundo have the television rights to the competition. While FOX Sports still do not have a direct-to-consumer streaming service (other than Tubi, which showed games on demand at the World Cup), your best bet is to watch all of the games in Spanish via <a href="https://imp.i305175.net/c/330866/1313913/11640" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Peacock Premium</a> for $4.99 per month (which also includes 180 Premier League games per season as well as USMNT and USWNT games).



Presumably FOX Sports will show games via their FOX Sports app.
