However, the Reds boss was disappointed with the Anfield atmosphere.</p>



<p>When the Reds failed to finish in the top four last season, they quickly regained their championship hopes this year, thanks in large part to their dominant home record. The Anfield crowd’s efforts in the match against West Ham were unimpressive, however, to <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/klopp-liverpool-sacking-would-occur-if-not-for-past-success-20230403-WST-426589.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Klopp</a>.</p>



<p>He is begging the supporters to bring their A-game for this weekend’s massive match. After last weekend’s excruciating <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/">Premier League</a> tie with Manchester United, the German said the fans were uninspiring.</p>



<p>With that in mind, he has higher expectations for the next top-of-the-table match against Arsenal.</p>



<h2>Klopp slams Anfield crowd during West Ham game</h2>



<p>Dominik Szoboszlai scored a breathtaking goal to put his team up 1-0 at half-time. Still, the crowd was not reacting adequately to the performance. A portion of the Main Stand became irater due to many squandered opportunities. Klopp made gestures towards them throughout the first half.</p>



<p>&nbsp;After extending an apologetic hand, the German shook his head and went away. After scoring twice in the second half via Curtis Jones and once through Mohamed Salah, Liverpool cruised to a comfortable victory against the Hammers.</p>

<p>During his press conference, <a href="https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/13035454/jurgen-klopp-unhappy-with-anfield-atmosphere-during-carabao-cup-win-over-west-ham" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Klopp stated</a> his feelings about the Anfield crowd. </p>



<p>“I thought in the first half when the boys played really exceptionally, I was not overly happy with the atmosphere behind me. I asked people ‘what do you want?’ We changed a lot of things, and we dominated West Ham like crazy and missed chances.</p>



<p>“If I was in the stands I would be on my toes, 1,000 percent. I don’t know if the Man United game was that bad that we have to say sorry we didn’t smash them.</p>



<p>“If it is too much football in December, if you are not in the right shape, give your ticket to somebody else. It was just not the excitement I felt. There were so many good performances, but we were only 1-0 up.”</p>



<h2>Klopp readies for Arsenal’s trip to the Etihad</h2>



<p>On Saturday, the Premier League’s top two teams will meet in a thrilling matchup. Liverpool welcomes <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/arsenal-tv-schedule/">Arsenal</a> to its stadium. Therefore, the former Borussia Dortmund manager spared no effort in his efforts to energize supporters.</p>



<p>“We need Anfield on Saturday. Arsenal didn’t play this week,” he added.</p>



<p>“They’ve prepared for this game and anyone who knows anything about them knows they will be prepared. So, we need Anfield on their toes from the first second, without me having an argument with the opposition coach.”</p>



<p>Earlier this week, in home matches against Manchester United and West Ham, the vibe was gloomy. The victory against West Ham on Wednesday followed Liverpool’s weekend 0-0 tie with Manchester United. There were just over 72 hours between games.</p>



<p>Klopp’s players may move up to first place in the league again with a victory against Arsenal.</p>

'Give your ticket to somebody else': Klopp slams Anfield fans

<p>When <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/liverpool-tv-schedule/">Liverpool</a> hosts <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/manchester-united-tv-schedule/">Manchester United</a> next weekend, Anfield will break its <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/">Premier League</a> attendance record with the renovated Anfield Road Stand. Liverpool has <a href="https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-fc-anfield-road-stand-man-utd-b1126227.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">spent over $100 million</a> to renovate the stands on the northeast end of the ground. In total, Liverpool is expecting 57,000 fans at Anfield when the Reds welcome the Red Devils. </p>



<p>Most of the work on the Anfield Stand came with a new upper tier that is adding 7,000 seats to the hallowed ground. To ensure the stand is ready to welcome thousands of visitors, Liverpool is hosting a test event with the LFC Foundation. Jürgen Klopp is attending a question-and-answer session at the stadium on Monday that will bring fans to the stand for the first time.</p>



<p>The game against Manchester United is Liverpool’s next home game. The Reds do have a game against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League group stage. However, that game is in Belgium. Previous games at Anfield in the Premier League and Europa League pulled around 52,000 in the audience. With that number going to 57,000 on Sunday, Liverpool will break its Premier League attendance record.</p>



<h2>Liverpool to set another Anfield attendance record next month</h2>



<p>While hosting 57,000 fans against Manchester United is a massive achievement for the club, it is not the end of the line. Anfield has other seats opening in about one month that will break the all-time league attendance record at Anfield. Currently, Liverpool’s league attendance record is 58,757. That happened in a draw against Chelsea in 1949. When total refurbishment finishes, the official capacity at Anfield will be 61,000.</p>

<p>It remains a possibility that Liverpool can break its all-time attendance record. That figure, which came in 1952 against Wolves in the FA Cup fourth round, is 61,905. Renovations to the lower part of the Anfield Road Stand end the drawn-out process to bring more people to Anfield.</p>



<h2>Ending the construction and renovation dilemmas</h2>



<p>The Manchester United game also signals the end of a lengthy process that needed delays to fix Anfield. Construction on the Anfield Road Stand started in 2021. However, the process took time as Liverpool played games while construction continued. Buckingham Group, the construction company in charge of the project, faced financial difficulties. That put <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/liverpool-set-timeline-for-anfield-road-stand-as-work-continues-20230908-WST-454791.html">more delays on the debut</a>, which the club hoped would be the beginning of the 2023/24 season. </p>



<p>“Our priority was to get fans back into the stadium as soon as possible safely,” Paul Cuttill, vice-president of Stadium Operations, said. “Billy [Hogan, the chief executive] said back in October it would likely be 2024 before we would open so to get ahead of that for the Man United game is a bit of an early Christmas present.”</p>



<p>After the long wait, Liverpool gets to bring thousands of fans to a game against one of its biggest rivals. Then, not long after, Anfield will be the location for pivotal games against Newcastle and Chelsea in January. Later games in the season at Anfield include contests against Manchester City and Tottenham. The raucous venue could provide even more problems for visiting opposition in this Premier League campaign.</p>

<p>Construction business Buckingham Group, which was in charge of the reconstruction, ran into financial trouble because of the delays. They filed a notice to appoint administrators, throwing the whole project into doubt.</p>



<p><a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/liverpool-tv-schedule/">Liverpool</a> seized possession of the facility notwithstanding the Buckingham Group’s difficulties. Construction of the stand started in 2021. COVID-19 delayed initial plans and timelines.</p>



<h2>Liverpool planned to have Anfield Road ready for start of season</h2>



<p>The Reds intended on playing to a capacity crowd in their first home game of the 2023-24 <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/watch-premier-league-on-us-tv-internet/">Premier League</a>. Renovation on the stand was incomplete. Several setbacks have hampered the project.</p>



<p>Then, only last month, Liverpool found out that the business it had hired to do the job had gone into administration. The first level of the Anfield Road Stand had been built at that time. In actuality, it had the capacity to hold supporters of the opening league match.</p>



<p>However, the remainder was never completed. Inadequate capacity has cost Jurgen Klopp’s side money due to lower-than-expected attendance to kick off the season. Fans who had planned to profit from the project’s completion and the additional tickets made available due to an enhanced capacity have also been negatively impacted as the process has dragged on.</p>

<h5>Which games will see stand closed?</h5>



<p>Everything that happened caused a complete shutdown of operations. But the club has worked rapidly to get it back up and running so that Anfield may be at full capacity again as soon as possible. Three weeks following the bankruptcy of Buckingham Group, Liverpool hired Rayner Rowen Construction and other contractors to continue the project.</p>



<p>When <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/west-ham-tv-schedule">West Ham</a>, Leicester City and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise come to town, the upper level of the new stand will close. Liverpool set timeline for Anfield Road stand as work continues

<p>It was reported last week that Liverpool Football Club had submitted a proposal to the city’s council to expand Anfield’s capacity.</p>
<p>The redevelopment – which is only phase one of the project – would focus on the Main Stand and would add an additional 8,500 seats, taking its capacity to nearly 21,000 and the overall capacity of the stadium to 54,000.</p>
<p>Today it has been announced that the club have won permission and can now start ‘phase one’ the redevelopment of their home ground.</p>
<p>Construction on the Main Stand is expected to begin early next year and be completed in time for the 2016-17 season. Liverpool will not have to relocate during the redevelopment process; the club will continuing playing matches at Anfield throughout the duration of construction.</p>
<p>Outline proposals for ‘phase two’ of the project would see the Anfield Road Stand increase its capacity by nearly 4,800 seats.</p>
<p>Liverpool are cautiously optimistic of the approval of ‘phase one’ from the city’s council. There is still a possibility for residents and businesses to oppose the redevelopment, and for a legal challenge to any decision – which would further delay construction.</p>
<p>Liverpool’s stadium plans have been plagued with problems ever since the club announced plans for an upgrade of the grounds in 2001.</p>
<p>Former chairman David Moores secured planning permission to move to Stanley Park, and his successors Tom Hicks and George Gillet Jr also secceeded in having another stadium design get the ‘green light’. But on both occasions permission was granted before the finance to build was in place.</p>
<p>But times have changed and today the club are under stable leadership.</p>
<p>Earlier on Tuesday, Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson&nbsp;informed the media that he was pleased&nbsp;with the council’s decision and excited for the opportunities it will provide the area around Anfield.</p>
<p>Anderson said: “This is a very important milestone in our ambitions to transform the Anfield area, bringing new jobs, investment and housing.</p>
<p>“The overall regeneration will see £260m invested in Anfield. Liverpool Football Club’s proposals for the stadium are a key part of this. The club is a major employer in the area and its stadium is a major draw for tourists and visitors.”</p>
<p>Brian Cronin, chief executive of Your Housing Group, added: “Today’s decision by the planning committee is good news, not just for Anfield but for the whole of Liverpool. The stadium redevelopment is an integral part of the overall vision for the regeneration of the area.”</p>
