When Manchester City sacked Roberto Mancini after defeat in the 2013 FA Cup Final, the club spoke of instituting a “holistic” approach to management. Manchester City Defensive Woes Continue

Manchester City's defensive record was the best in the Premier League each of the past three seasons. Under former Manager Roberto Mancini, the club may not have played the most attractive style of football but tactical shape and defensive organization were considered the keys to success. However this season under new Manager Manuel Pellegrini and […]

Newcastle United Could Challenge for Honours This Season

Newcastle United was in “crisis” we were told before the season began. That “crisis” intensified after a 4-0 opening weekend drubbing at Manchester City. As time goes on I realize it is critical not to make snap judgments about teams. This season’s Magpies squad fits squarely into that category. Alan Pardew’s position was undermined before […]

The controversial red card issued to Wes Brown in Sunderland's 2-0 loss to Stoke City has been rescinded by an FA Panel. Fernandinho Turning Into Manchester City Stalwart

This summer Manchester City took what many, including myself thought was a huge risk in buying Fernandinho who had played the last eight seasons in Ukraine for £30 million. The signing was not only City’s most expensive of the summer but the third most expensive in club history. This for a player who at 28 […]

Spurs have scored only six open play goals in twelve Premier League matches and while the side has feasted on European opposition in the Europa League something is badly wrong domestically. Stephen Ross Cools On Owning Piece of Beckham Miami MLS Team, Says Sources: Monday Soccer Insider

I am hearing from multiple sources that Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has cooled on owning a piece of MLS team in Miami. This may explain why most media reports indicate David Beckham has moved beyond Ross’ Dolphins Stadium complex for a temporary home. This should properly explain the recent hubbub of activity including LeBron […]

Crystal Palace's Decision to Acquire Tony Pulis As Manager is a Wise One

Tony Pulis has made a deserved return to Premier League football with Crystal Palace. Critics of the Welsh Manager are seemingly found at every corner in the British press. Julio Cesar Would Be An Ideal Fit to Give Joe Hart Competition at Manchester City

Joe Hart’s heroics at Wembley on Tuesday against Germany intensified the debate currently grappling Manchester City supporters. Should the Manchester City net-minder be replaced permanently by a long-term transfer target or should he be temporarily replaced to simply get through 2013-14? Why LeBron James' Interest In David Beckham's Miami MLS Team is a Smart Move

Last week I stated for Beckham’s Miami MLS dream to work he must cater to a largely Hispanic audience. But the potential addition of LeBron James to the ownership group changes this equation substantially. James has mainstream credibility among an American sporting audience, English language dominant sports journalists and mainstream media in the country. Last […]
